13 game season and reasons why:

my long winded response in the "dream home & home series" thread made me want to officially start a discussion about it. because as i typed the more it made sense. we should strongly push for this....

i have also heard that there may be a 13 game season on the horizon & 2 "open" weeks during the conference season in which either, but not both, could be used as bye's. Games would start mid august, and go till the beginning of december. If that is the case then you could easily schedule that game in the second half of the season in one of those "open" dates forcing them to play in colder weather. College FB is making people lots of money. For all the same reasons for the NFL to go to 18 games, but no players association to deal with is why it will be done. Plus with this change bowl eligibility would then become 7 wins. With 13 games it makes it much more difficult to be undefeated, allowing the BCS to correct its "non-AQ" problem with forcing at least 4 "BCS" level opponents to be scheduled (2 from a AQ conference). FCS opponents will be dropped from win totals when assessing tie breakers and who gets what bowl. they essentially become a preseason game that could hurt you come selection time. by doing so you allow the schedule and the system to correct it's arch nemesi Boise and TCU.

Damnit, Tex. You keep coming up with good posts. It's making it difficult to still consider you an arrogant a** ;). Seriously though, great stuff lately!

Thanks man, I am in no way joking here, I showed my fiance some of my posts and she confirmed my arrogance at times, and I went out and bought the book "Don't sweat the small stuff." I would like to say that my self improvement started with my involvement in an epic thread on a fan website (kind of silly, but i'm thankful). The coker thread has had a "butterfly effect" or "ripple effect" with me. For god sakes the coker thread is within itself a friggin' therapist. pretty amazing uh?

It does have long arms of influence, for sure. It's mainly a stress release for me. I hope it never dies!
