To Michigan. Not a big suprise to anyone who has followed his recruiting that he is staying in state. Michigan adding Pritzlaff and Bormet to the staff solidified this.

so, i like wrestling, but i'll be honest i don't follow the recruiting at all. did we even have a shot at this kid? how is the class looking?

The class is slim right now with only 1 official commit; however, I'm confident based on the talent still available that Iowa will pick up a couple more quality wrestlers. The biggest need is in the upper weights at 197.

The Hawks #1 target right now is Sam Brooks. He is from Illinois and is projected to wrestle 197 in college and is currently the #2 guy in the nation at that weight projection. They are in on plenty of others guys as well but a couple of the bigger names include Thomas Gilman from Omaha Skutt and Willie Miklus from Southeast Polk.

Any idea if the Hawks are targeting a 197 transfer for next season (and one the admin will accept)? I still don't know why Byers was accepted at OSU but not Iowa. Was it a discipline or academic issue (or combo)?

Miklus committed to Mizzou tonight, I think that is a good sign for Iowa as Brooks was serioulsly looking at Mizzou also.

Iowa seems to be have bad recruiting year so far...

I wouldn't say they're having a bad recruiting year as it's too early to know yet. Definitely frustrating though with so many great Iowans committing to other schools.

I was hoping more recruits would commit to Iowa early and be willing to take less $$...and I was hoping Miklus was one of these. Iowa averages ~8 per class of various scholarship/walk ons (typically ~40 on the roster at any given time).
