    Jay Scheel done with football

Wonder how much of that had to do with nagging knee injuries. Either way, sad to hear, but I think he's making the correct decision. It would be great if he could stay involved with the team somehow, but hopefully he'll at least get his degree out of this.

    Oliver Martin update

No, I agree. What I meant was that we were offering to a bunch of people because Martin was looking around and it seemed like the coaching staff had banked on him not coming to Iowa. Obviously, if he said he wanted to play at Iowa, I think (hope) the coaches would have done their best to make it...

    Oliver Martin update

With us going after all these other WRs, and with Martin visiting around, I think he's going elsewhere.

Why does CJ get a pass with everyone?

First of all, we're not at war. Second, when Operation Market Garden failed, was it the 19 year old paratroopers taking the blame? Or was it the generals? Yes, we can scrutinize and criticize but in the end, 1) we ourselves are likely incapable of what the players do and 2) it really doesn't...

Why does CJ get a pass with everyone?

There were a lot of factors as to why he struggled this year. The OL, though it improved over the course of the year, really wasn't all that good at pass protection. Early in the season, he was still coming off surgery, and he was taking hits constantly. He didn't have anybody to throw to. He...

Demand for B1G title game? Anyone else dumping tix?

So I guess Iowa fans were 1) super pumped about the B1G title and a chance at the CFP after a 12-0 season, and 2) able to plan to attend the title game with advance notice.

Gary Barta: Down to Outback or Holiday

Iowa hasn't been to the Holiday Bowl since 1991, and Nebraska was just there in 2014. Nebraska has never been to the Outback Bowl, and we were just there in 2014. Iowa will go to the Holiday, and Nebraska will go to the Outback.

If Clemson and Washington both lose...

I think it would go to Colorado before Penn State, even if PSU is conference champions. It'll be tricky because they would reward two teams (admittedly probably the top two teams in the conference) for not winning their division and not playing in that 13th game. If there is a year for 3 teams...

Demand for B1G title game? Anyone else dumping tix?

I'm a bit surprised that Penn State doesn't have a lot of fans wanting to go. But then again, I really don't know how well Lions fans travel. Not surprised by Wisconsin, since they've gone to so many B1G CGs since the game started. I suppose there is also uncertainty as to whether the winner...

Desmond King, Jaleel Johnson Named 1st-Team All-B1G

Johnston leads the conference (and is 5th nationally) in yards/punt. Coluzzi is 5th in the conference in that category (behind Johnston, the Michigan punter Allen, and I think the Penn State and jNW punters). Johnston also has a 70 yard punt. He also has one more punt landing inside the 20 (23)...

If Clemson and Washington both lose...

Three teams? HIGHLY unlikely. Even with the B1G in decent position for it, it's might be a stretch for 2 B1G teams. If Colorado upsets Washington, and if VT upsets Clemson, then I think Michigan or the B1G champion makes it in at #3. The 4th team might be Colorado, or whoever wins the B12...

Lost in everything the last 3 games

The Penn State game was a huge wake up call to the entire squad. If we win that game, or if we lose by a few points, I don't think we come out swinging against Michigan.

Thoughts on 2-pt conversion and taking FG of the board?

I was fine going for 2, to make up for the blocked XP. The play call, however, was not good at all. If the penalty on the FG had happened further out, I would have thought we take the points instead of the penalty. However, we were in great position to try for a TD. If we had failed to score on...

That Ohio St. win sickened me....

It really wasn't though. Ohio State tried a fake punt on fourth and long from their own 20 and turned it over on downs. Michigan scored a TD a little later. The two interceptions were the real killers, since one was taken back for six and the other one set up a TD after a couple plays.

Desmond King Not a Thorpe Award Finalist

Not surprised. He might have been able to get a couple more picks this season, but kind of hard for him to pile up stats when teams actively avoid his half of the field.

Gavin Holmes Talks to HN About Decision to Decommit from Iowa

What I don't get is how we justify holding verbal commits from visiting other school, but are perfectly fine offering and hosting players who have committed elsewhere. We need strong pipelines to compete and succeed in the conference and nationally. I get that we don't want "drama" players and...

lol Michigan stays at #3 in CFP rankings

Plus there was sheer chaos across all the ranked teams. #2, #3, #4, #8, #9, #14, and #17 all lost. #13, #16 and #19 all had closer than expected (or wanted) wins. Even Penn State - Indiana was fairly close until PSU pulled away at the end. Not surprised that one week of chaos didn't change...

    Mitchell

I was JUST wondering about this. I know he was suspended and re-instated within a day, but that was last season. I also know he was dealing with some injuries earlier in the year, but there's been no word on him at all, really. Even the official Iowa Football page just states he didn't make the...

So why has Bethard become a pocket passer?

I think there are a few different reasons. 1) Could be injuries sustained through last year that are still nagging him. I remember there was concern before the season that he was wearing a brace, etc. There was that surgery too. And maybe I've just forgotten about last season, but he seems far...

    Eerie similarities to 2008

I think the most important point is this one... "In both games Iowa had a 100 plus yard rusher." And not just rusher...Wadley had 50 of 66 pass yards. The kid WAS the offense.
