2012 offense and this year's offense

Scherff was left tackle, Van Slotten was right. Scherff's leg was rolled up on from behind, if I remember right. I think Donnel was the other lineman injured. Can't remember if he was playing right guard or left tackle when injured. Didn't Matt Tobin start the rest of the year at left tackle?

    Check Out Purdue's Schedule...

Iowa's 2022 schedule before the bye is pretty brutal. This year's team, playing next year's schedule, could have easily gone 3-4 or 2-5 before the bye.

    Check Out Purdue's Schedule...

Iowa lost all four starters on the 2004 defensive line, Roth, Babineaux, Robinson & Luebke. Babineaux had the best NFL career. Both Roth and Robinson had a number of years in the NFL. Iwebema, a true sophomore, was the only DL in 2005 with any playing experience. King & Kroul were both true...

Ferentz's player development has always been top notch.

I'm not sure how this applies to Lainez. The Hun school plays in the Mid-Atlantic Prep league.

Anyone hearing Brian Ferentz to Oklahoma as OC rumors?

Actually, I wasn't referring to rumors. I was thinking more along more general lines of having to go back to being a position coach and having to fit in with someone else's system and expectations. I think he's spent a little too much time in his father's shadow, immersed in 1990s old school...

Anyone hearing Brian Ferentz to Oklahoma as OC rumors?

If Brian Ferentz was wise, he would take a job as an offensive line coach under someone that could teach him a different offensive system. I don't question his competence as a high-end offensive line coach, but compatibility and temperament would be crucial. He'd have to fit into a new...

    Weird-12 Championship

Must be Groundhog's day for Oregon. Utah beat them 38-7 two weeks ago. They have to keep playing them until they get it right.

    Preview, Prediction: B1G Championship Game

I think they were more concerned about the offense being functional. It's hard to be creative when the blocking is that bad.

    Preview, Prediction: B1G Championship Game

A safety or Iowa runs back a blocked extra point for its only score of the game? It would be an improbable way to end an improbable run at a conference championship. Perhaps even more improbable than somehow winning the game.

    Can we hang with michigan???

I'll list their odds for each game. Espn doesn't have the odds stated for each game anymore, so this is from memory. Odds of Iowa win over Nebraska around 45-46%. Odds of Minnesota win over Wisconsin around 36-37%. Odds of both an Iowa & Minnesota winning out 17.5%. Odds of a Michigan win...

    Can we hang with michigan???

The computer algorithms espn uses give about a 24% chance of Iowa winning against Michigan. (not sure whose model they use) The combined chances of Iowa beating Nebraska, Minnesota winning, and Michigan winning last weekend was around 7%. So winning next weekend is more likely than getting...

Follow me on this: Use both qbs

I think this would be a whole lot more unlikely, but letting Padilla start wouldn't be totally inconceivable. It would force Michigan's defense into plan B right off the bat. You know they are going to focus their preparation on Petras. I'd give Padilla a better than 50% chance of flipping...

Follow me on this: Use both qbs

Padilla's longest drives did come fairly early in each game. He had trouble finishing them, coming up short either in the red zone or just before getting to the red zone. They did use his mobility effectively, either rolling him out or moving him around in the pocket. He was rarely sacked...
