ISU and Indiana had close to the same overall record (20-12 for ISU, 20-13 for Indiana) but ISU had an SOS of 11 to Indiana's 38. ISU had a 9-8 record in Q1 games to Indiana's 4-8.
I think ISU's resume is significantly better than Indiana's.
I've been touting Wisconsin all year as underrated, on this board no less.
To simply say ISU or any team in the tournament has no shot against them, when they just lost at home to Nebraska, I think is absurd. That's all.
Is Davis 100%? I mean Wisconsin did just lose to Nebraska.
That said LSU is a very bad matchup for ISU, as a fan you have to hope two of their coaches getting fired has to hurt them.
It's not fools gold but kelley keeps posting those warren nolan team sheets and you can see - Iowa's predictive (efficiency) metrics are a lot higher than their results based metrics. KPI and SOR are in the 30s, efficiency are in the teens. NET is really aligned with efficiency so it makes sense.
I guess I just think the landscape is different now. Nobody is hanging on to players. The blue bloods lose their best players to the NBA and the middle tier like ISU and Iowa lose their players to blue bloods. It just is what it is.
Maybe, but Lute coached in a time when the tourney format was different. First round games are not comparable to first round games now. For example, he lost the "First round" in '79, but he was a 4 seed vs. a 5 seed and both teams had a bye before that.
In '81 he lost a "First round" game where...
Just my opinion but this is a net zero proposition, because Iowa is also playing against teams going through the same thing. For example, Iowa swept Minnesota who is pretty bad this year. However, it would have been a lot tougher and Iowa might have lost one if Carr was still on the team, who...
Why would they? Ricky Rubio, a guy who is a career 11 PPG scorer makes 18 million a year.
There are 479 active NBA contracts - 124 of them are guys making more than 10 million dollars a year. 207 are more than 5 million a year. You compare that to sports like the NFL, where the players on...
The NBA is nothing like the NFL money wise, but it's a LOT better than the NFL money wise for the players. These guys are making absurd amounts of money. Guys you've barely heard of make 10 million a year. They don't strike a balance because they don't need to.
Virginia is right on the edge of that top 75 rating, which would give Iowa another Q1 win. Michigan and Michigan state at 33 and 35 respectively are close too. I think Iowa ends up with another Q1 win by the end of the season from a team they've already beaten.
Regardless I think Iowa is...
I mean this with all due respect to everybody, but Fran is the consummate high floor, lower ceiling than some fans want kind of guy. And it is year 13, so the only thing I can think of is that people are just tired of it. There is a reason why Jimmy Johnson said nobody should coach in one place...
If you want to look up the "other reasons" why he was let go from ISU you can, but I don't think Iowa is missing anything by not getting him to be honest.
