I read this too. Good article. It sounded as if at least two of those returns, the punter failed to do what he was asked to do. The Special Teams coach maybe needed to work on those scenarios in the week leading up to the game. Or, maybe they did and the punter just didn't get the job done.

    REFLECTION

I could see this being the reality of his situation. He is, at heart, a teacher. From my viewpoint, which is not close at all to anything, he really enjoys working with the kids and it is rewarding for him. It gives him purpose. Does he hate losing? Yes. Do the losses bother him? Very...

I would love to hear it. Your Nebraska disdain is one of the best things about this board. Growing up in western Iowa I feel it!

Starting To Also Think It’s Time

Cignetti is a one-off in a lot of ways. Stoops is not coming back to Iowa to be the head coach. Of that I am certain. And I can't think of another 65 year old that I'd want to hire.

    Chi State Thread

It's a school that we just beat by 39 that Minnesota beat by 12 just 3 nights earlier. I've got to think it could be a long year for the Gophers.

Starting To Also Think It’s Time

This was my thought. When Brian Kelly was fired by LSU they tried to get him to settle for less. He refused and has filed a lawsuit. He is 64 years old and probably done with coaching. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up having to fork over the entire amount because they have no leg to...

Replace a guy who is 70 years old with a guy who is....... 65 years old? No thanks.

Starting To Also Think It’s Time

If this ends up being the case, will KF accept a lower buyout? Because otherwise he would be owed in the neighborhood of $25 million. And unlike Penn State, there would not be any offset (they ended up owing Franklin "only" $9 million). Seems like a lot for Iowa to raise. If this...

    How Are They Doing?

I agree. But from what I heard at the time he was offered a lot to go there.

Will Iowa ever have a QB that can throw

FWIW, both the ANF and HawkCentral podcasts believe that Hecklinski or Brown will be Iowa's starting QB next year with the early edge to Hecklinski. Tim Lester really seems to like him. Gronowski has been a huge improvement at the position this year but I think either one of those two could be...

Iowa vs. Southeast Missouri Community College Game Thread

He was promised playing time? I wasn't aware of that. I still think he can gain valuable experience even if he redshirts. The kid is still 17 years old and probably needs some time in the weight room too. I would bet that there is a good amount of communication with this kid as to where he...

This was the best we've gone against this year and will see for the rest of the year.

Meet the twin brothers behind the popular 'ANF Podcast' about Iowa football

Both played HS ball at Alburnett where they started watching film at and early age. Then both went to St. Thomas University (I think it's in St. Paul MN). One of them played college ball but the other did not. They are both corporate attorneys in Minneapolis and they do this as a hobby. (Got...

Will Iowa ever have a QB that can throw

I agree with your take. As for receivers that can grab anything thrown their way, we have one. Dayton Howard has consistently caught balls that were difficult throws. The TD he had against USC was not easy in dry weather. Very good hands. I just wish he would see the field a little more...

    Who was the assistant coach

I'm not a consipiracy theorist but I did think the game was poorly officiated in general. Not just the missed face mask penalty. One other particular play was when their RB was tackled and got back up and the refs allowed him to continue another 3-4 yards. Replay showed he was down. I kept...

Yes. KF refers to that as one of, if not the #1 favorite team of his.

If you have all the answers, tell me who they will hire? And, care to wager a bet the new guy doesn't win a Big 10 or national championship in his first five years?

USC Game-what’s your gut feel?(look ma I started a game thread)

This is what I posted before the game but didn't hit "Post Reply". Hoping we can keep our foot on the gas in the second half! I didn't have a great feeling coming into today. The field is going to be a quagmire. Not sure who that favors but I just don't feel real confident right now. Sure...
