HN Prospect Podcast: Deontae Craig Likes Idea of Helping Hawkeyes Early

The size struck me first. I don’t usually think True freshman have much of a chance to help us out on the DL, but I was blown away by the explosiveness off of the ball, the speed was amazing for a big man, but his best trait was his motor! Wow! I knew he was a big get, but just didn’t realize...

Family Connection Makes Hawkeye Offer Even More Special for Tyler McLaurin

Athletic ability is obvious. I always thought Bolingbrook was a powerhouse football factory in Illinois... but apparently they don’t really teach the kids proper tackling technique. I saw a lot of “bear hug” tackling on that clip, where he grabs guys around the chest area. I am sure Iowa...

Iowa Big 10 Tournament on Friday

The girls better learn how to BOX OUT before the tournament starts. That performance against Rutgers was ghastly.

    Kallenberger and Schott

I wasn’t talking about it as if it was experimenting with line-ups. I was platooning guys in and out as a strategy to keep guys fresh particularly at OG. (See the DL Rotation) We are going to need big contributions from Ince and/or Britt and/or Plumb in 2021. I don’t think that is a...

    Kallenberger and Schott

I think you will see a move to more rotating of guys on the OL, at least through the OOC and B1G East games. Possibly similar to the DL rotating in 8 guys. Benefits would be to (1) keep them fresh, (2 which might reduce injuries, and (3) get more experience for whoever is still here in 2021...

    Howe: Iowa Football '20 Position-By-Position Outlook 2.0

If Belton stays at Cash, he needs a quantum leap from his freshman year. Minnesota was clearly picking on him... and winning that matchup. USC picked on him, too. If anyone can coach him up, Phil Parker can. My Guess: Golston, Nixon, Schulte and Waggoner up front. Rotating in will be...

    Howe: Iowa Football '20 Position-By-Position Outlook 2.0

All the ingredients are there. It is all about Petras and how he performs this coming year, IMHO. And we cannot lose anyone on the DL to injury. Especially at DT.

    2017 Recruiting Class - Hits/Guys/Misses

I think the OP needs more categories. To say that AJE and Wirfs were a huge hit seems to not be enough. Since they are both 1st round talent and are so good that they can leave a year early, maybe they should be deemed to be Grand Slams? Maybe Geno Stone starting out as a lowly 2-star but...

    Jeff Jenkins

Samson was an impressive KR and PR in high school. Really surprised he hasn’t been given that responsibility. I really thought Jenkins was going to be a great, quick pulling guard for us when we signed him. He gave it his best shot and it sounds like he was a good teammate. So, I hope he...

We All Need To See This From Time To Time

That 2010 DL: Binns, Clayborn, Klug and Ballard. How did we lose so many games?

    Howe: Hawkeye Football All-Decade Team

Coluzzi would get the nod for me. He was a life-saver that year. Karl Klug was better than Davis at DT, but I agree with the argument about not having much of his career after 2010, same as Stanzi. Jaleel and Davis both had outstanding senior years, but not so much prior to that.

    ISM

He was a whisker away from having a Throwing TD, too. Could have had a 4th TD if he turns and looks for the ball a split-second quicker down on the goal-line. He also proved to the country that the Hawks have some Serious speed anD not just possession WR.

    Holiday Bowl prediction thread

It sounds like there may be more Iowa fans there than USC fans, though. Motivation is a crucial factor in bowl games. All of that seems to be favorable to the Hawks. Coaches remember the 2003 Orange Bowl. Hayden Fry passing. A chance to make their mark against a Blue Blood. I really hope...

Michigan Linebacker Joshua Burnham Discusses New Offer from Iowa

Wow. He was diagnosing plays the second the ball was snapped! Then he had the speed to blow the plays up. A more physically gifted version of Josey? Impressive. I hope we can pry him away from Michigan and MSU.

Oak Lawn Richards got beat 60-0

Watching highlights of Tyler Macon, I was impressed with how often he dropped in perfect passes, even though a defensive player had busted through or around the protection. I mean, that pass blocking was really not good. Still, he delivered the ball for big gains or got out of there and made...

Can we alter holiday bowl uniforms

Black Helmets with no stripe. Small Tiger Hawk logo on the front of the helmet, above the face mask, with ANF sticker on the back, nothing on the sides.

    Please Watch This

I just loved his story telling. One of the best is a story he told on that BTN Special about the 1985 team, where they were warming up to play Michigan and he had OG’s snapping the ball to the punter, with typically predictable and awful results. Schembechler was watching at the 50 yard line...

    Another mock draft

After AJ got hurt, Tristan did play some LT. There were games where he switched back and forth from RT to LT, depending on where he was most needed. Just that fact alone will prove to scouts how versatile he is and I think they are drooling over the prospect of adding him to an OL and plug him...

Wait...so could we end up playing Bama in the Citrus now

Just think how easy it will be for the coaching staff to get the kids to focus on this game! one of the narratives around these lesser bowl games is that the 1st round draft picks don’t need to put themselves at risk. Well, for a chance to play vs Alabama I think all of the early entrants...
