    Baylor fires Art Briles

Don't know that I completely agree, but I see your point. It's my opinion that if there is a suspicion, accusation of, hint at, etc. of sexual assault, the matter should be turned over to law enforcement authorities for investigation and prosecution if warranted. Not to university panels...

OK Lawyers - What's the Deal?

Don't live in the state anymore, so don't know the specifics, but of course state funding for higher education is a choice. As are roads, as is public safety, as are state health programs, and the list goes on and on. Isn't that the whole point of electing legislators, to make those choices...

Nebraska coach resigned, Iowa should benefit.

I agree that the gap will close over time as the depth of talent widens. But it will take time. Especially when the women's game has 15 scholarships instead of 13. The best teams can keep more of the best talent.

    Maishe Daily

Possibly. But there is playing time to be had next year. Graduation of Gesell, Clemmons and Uthoff opens up a lot of perimeter minutes.

It would make sense to get him whether or not Jok is coming back. Is Iowa so well-stocked that we can't use another good athletic wing? No, we are not. Perimeter players right now are Jok, Bohannon, Williams, Moss, Ellingson and Baer (who is kind of a hybrid 3/4 man). Jok (and to some extent...

Hawkeyes Have Good Chance with NYC PG Christian Vital

Really? Are you talking about on a per capita basis? I guess that's possible, but still would have liked to see those numbers. But on a raw total, there is no way the state of Iowa ever had more state natives on NBA rosters than other states.

    Potential options for open scholarships

I think we're saying the same thing. There is an overall need of quality on the roster, regardless of position. Of course, transfers sometimes have issues. But sometimes they don't. Uthoff was a transfer, and he worked out pretty nicely no? Talent is talent, and Hawks need more of it.

    Potential options for open scholarships

Agree that Iowa isn't undersized. Hawks could use a quality player at ANY position on the floor next year, 1 through 5. Roster needs to get better.

    There goes Fleming

Best of luck to him wherever he ends up.

Iowa Press Release on Brandon Hutton Being Granted Release

Yeah I don't get the doom and gloom from one person who never played a minute for Iowa. But what do I know? Best of luck to Mr. Hutton, and hopefully Fran can secure someone who can help next year.

Wisky BB is everything Iowa isn't

Often times that's how these things work out. Administrators have no real idea if a coach will be successful or not. Had anyone thought that Bo Ryan would be a great coach, Wisconsin wouldn't have passed him over the previous times they had an opening. Ferentz didn't seem to be anyone's first...

    Conference Expansion

I highly doubt the B12 is wishing Texas leaves. Were Texas to leave, you would see the rest of the conference teams flee as fast as they could. Oklahoma would leave, either to the SEC, B1G or Pac-12. This whole thing is a bit crazy. The reason the B1G is pushing the expansion envelope is for...

    Pat Chambers

Chambers might indeed be a good coach, but one could not tell with how his team has played this year. That is the most undisciplined outfit I have seen all year. Guys just jack up guarded shot after guarded shot. With that much size and athleticism, Lions should at least be decent on defense and...

Howe: Hawkeyes Get Away from Winning Formula in Loss at Maryland

Losses are always disappointing. Neither team played great, in that both teams missed lots of fairly open jumpers. I don't think Iowa "got away" from what they've been doing, it's just that things look a whole lot different when you shoot 20% from 3-point land instead of 40+%. Iowa's assist to...

Iowa is now #2 in Pomeroy

If Iowa wins by 50, it won't hurt them in Pomeroy. It would mean Iowa's offensive and defensive efficiency was off the charts good, even accounting for opposition (which Pomeroy does). If Iowa wins by 8 or 12, then likely yes Iowa would drop even with a win.

    fanatic

The B1G has been better in the NCAA tournament than the B12 the last 20 years, but that has little to do with this year. Kansas, Oklahoma and West Virginia are all very good, and there's no reason to say otherwise. Iowa State can be good, but aren't playing all that well recently. College hoops...

    Yes, Tom Izzo said this.....

Yeah Izzo was full on snark in the post game, he was ****** at his team. Said Fran has always been tougher than his team, or something to the effect. And that even Fran hit a 3 in the first half. Izzo was always complimentary to Alford and Lickliter when he was kicking their *** every year. Not...

Hawkeyes Up 3 Spots to No. 16 in New AP Poll

I give Hoiberg a lot of credit for recognizing he wasn't just going to go head-to-head against the Kansas and Duke's of the world to win high school recruits. He saw the transfer market as a way to get talent. And it worked in spades. Complemented it with quality high school players like Morris...

Wisconsin basketball back where they belong

I'm not sure they have the pieces to do much better than they are right now. I believe they had an injury to a key player before the season, but not sure. Hayes is finding life difficult as the focus of opposing defenses. Turns out its much easier to be efficient when the best 2 defenders on the...

    Flemming/Williams

Williams didn't redshirt for that very reason. He will be required to play significant minutes at PG next year. No, he's not playing big minutes this year. But he still is going through the preparation and a bit of time on the floor will speed him along for next year. I would guess that the...
