    Everyone's Coaching Predictions

    1. I honestly can't get a feel for who "will" be our next coach. 2. I would like to see Forbes as our next coach. 3. Barbee would be my dark horse.

Dayton's Gregory "not interested" in Iowa job

I'm so ok with Gregory not being interested. Bring on Steve Forbes! He is very interested and motivated!

Dayton vs. Illinois (in case you want to see Gregory)

I am hoping that our next head coach is still involved in the NCAA tourney in some capacity. I just can't fired up over this candidate.

    The Search: Expectation Management

I'm thinking Steve Forbes fits the bill, and should be given the opportunity. I know there are some fans that would be unhappy with that pick, but I think Forbes could be the key to some long term success at the Iowa basketball program. And I really like the fact that by all accounts he really...

Tweet Re: Pearl - From Rick Brown Dsm Register

Is it possible he was in contact with Iowa on Steve Forbes behalf? This would explain him working behind the scenes on the "Iowa job" without him being personally interested in it.

No way Hope this is true

Sorry guys...don't get excited, but that was me that put the offer on that residence. -Bob Nite

Maybe B.J. doesn't sound sooo bad...

I would like to see BJ involved with the program at some level. An assistant perhaps. I think he would be able to recruit through the roof. I am just not sold on him being the head coach at this time because of his lack of coaching experience.

    Forbes vs Barbee

I would be ok with Barbee. I think he could certainly turn the Iowa program in the right direction. (Hell he couldn't do any worse than Lick) I just have a gut feeling that Forbes would be a better fit. His recruiting ability and work ethic are excellent according to the Vol faithful, since Iowa...

    "HALO" Rumor

+1 The Georgia Tech boards are ecstatic about the possibility of unloading Hewitt.

    Boring search

Well...my brother's wife's sister's cousin's handy man has leaked that I am not being considered for the head coaching position at Iowa. And I can confirm that rumor.

Why we can't get a Keno/Steve Forbes or mid-major type coach

Why is the OP thinking so small. Hell if the university has so much money to throw around and you want to dream about something that ain't gonna happen, dream BIG. Why not pay coach K or Calipari 5 mil. a year? They'll have us in the final four next year! Then we can re-negotiate KF's contract...

Forbes isn't even the 1st assistant to Pearl?

I have gone on the Tenn. boards and have been told by the VOl fans that Forbes can flat out recruit, and that he is the only reason they even have a shot at Selby a 5* recruit. The fans aren't very interested in losing him, and keep telling me we ought to be thinking about Jacobsen. This speaks...

Baylor's Scott Drew- Negative recruiting tactics from ESPN

This doesn't change my opinion. Drew is still high on my list of candidates. Like many posters have said earlier, I could care less if the other coaches or fans of the other Big 10 schools like Iowa or our coach. They are never going to like us as soon as we start winning anyway! Just go to the...

Is it possible the Iowa job isn't as bad as we are making it out to be?

I don't think the Iowa job is a bad job, and certainly not coaching suicide as some in the media have suggested. We have some serious issues that is true, but I think they are being addressed. With the right head coach and a new practice facility it will only be a matter of time before the Iowa...

    Congrats to Steven Alford

Does it not strike anyone else funny that a fan base that lost 22 games and hasn't even sniffed the NCAA tourney in years is hacking on a former coach that just won 30 games and made it to the second round of the big dance? I'm no Alford lover by any stretch of the imagination, but let it go...

    Remember 3 years ago?

First off, I am not on the Jacobsen bandwagon. he is not my first choice for the new head coaching job. However, I look at his body of work as a whole and I will say that I would not be suicidal (as some people would appear to be) if he got the job. Rather I would be behind him 100%. He has been...

How does Barta not look at Jacobson?

I wouldn't say Jake was my first choice as head coach, but I believe he would be successful in the Big 10, and I would be behind him 100%. I think he gets the style of play that it will take to win in the Big 10, and his recruiting relationships in Minneapolis and Chicago certainly wouldn't...

Tucker wants to stay @ Iowa...

Tucker essentially quit on the team by his request. Whether he was "forced" out or not, he could see the writing on the wall with Lick. Everyone new it was only a matter of time and Lick would be gone, so if Tucker was so interested in staying with the Hawks why didn't he ride it out and wait to...

    Forbes @ Iowa JUCO

I can definitely see your point CAARHawk, why would we want someone who has been around success his entire career. We would be much better off going with a Mid Major coach with head coaching experience as that has worked out soooo well for us the last 2 times.

    Head basketball coach

If name recognition is what you are looking for then Iowa could certainly afford more. But as far as a good fit for this program I think Forbes would be an outstanding hire. SInce you only have 2 posts to go by I can only go by what you've written so far, but you impress me as the kind of person...
