I agree with this to a point. We are paying customers (or at least I am) and our collective voice should be taken into account. Especially since Barta wants to fill CHA again. But the fans voices can't dictate every move the AD makes, or you just have chaos. Having said that though I whole...
With this logic we should have hired Ed DeChellis, hell he won the NIT last year! And look how he has fared since. Not interested in a mid major coach who finished 7th in the Atlantic 10.
The only thing Gregory has going for him is that he was once an assitant to Izzo, and that's it. His conference record sucks, and if he can't compete in the Atlantic 10 how do you think he will fare in the Big 10? I would rather see Jacobson before Gregory if we are going the mid major route...
I'm sorry, I just can't "warm up" to a coach who just went 8-8 in the Atlantic 10. He may be coaching in the NIT right now, but remeber Penn State won that tourney last year and look how they did this year.
I had not heard of him before today, but after doing reading his posts and doing some research I am very impressed with his knowledge. He is a welcome addition to this board and a voice of reason with some sound logic.
I only hope that he is hired. And yes I think it will get a fairly substantial bump in attendance. More so than a coach from a mid major outside of a Barbee or Jacobson (neither of which are coming)
The man's team finished 7th in the ATLANTIC 10!!! 7th! an 8-8 conference record in a MID MAJOR! If Barta hires him at any price you can shovel the dirt onto the grave of what is left of the Iowa basketball program. We may not be relevant again for a generation.
I have no interest in a head coach of a mid major who just got done playing in the NIT! Hell at least our last two mid major coaches made it to the sweet 16.
Absolutely!! Barta has a unique opportunity here to get a guy who can not only turn this program around but take it to the next level and stay here at Iowa after doing it! I hope Barta doesn't blow it. Because I'm gonna hate to see Forbes get another job and take another program to new heights...
This "ugly chick" has experience under both Bruce Pearl and Billy Gillispie. At Louisiana Tech he signed 2 nationally ranked recruiting classes including a top 10 recruiting class in 2003.
As the head coach at Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kan. his three seasons competing in...
Forbes is not the associate head coach because Tony Jones came with Pearl from UWM. It is said that Pearl actively pursued hiring Forbes because of his recruiting ability and tireless work ethic. Don't forget Forbes has worked under both Billy Gillispie and Bruce Pearl. Not bad mentors if I do...
