I knew a lot of white kids in high school who liked to sing rap lyrics...but we didn't have social media back then. If I am listening to rap, even when I am all by myself, I never say ALL the words. That has just been ingrained too deeply. Even singing along inside my head, I skip those words.

Also, as @HawkPowerlifter pointed out, this kid was a highly recruited QB (4*, ranked #11 QB by ESPN) who ended up at DII because of a stupid social media post. He is 6'2, 215 lbs. He has been at West Florida for 3 seasons, and 247Sports has him as their 5th best transfer portal QB...

There were about 45 DII players on NFL rosters last season, and 2 DIII players. https://www.flofootball.com/articles/12802489-list-of-division-ii-division-iii-football-players-that-made-nfl-rosters Just in recent memory, Iowa has had some good success with DII or NAIA players (Zack Van...

Nashville local media on Vanderbilt playing Iowa

Nope, I guess he didn't even see action in that game: https://hawkeyesports.com/sports/football/roster/player/marvin-mcnutt I can see him making a catch in that game so vividly in my memory, and it didn't even happen. Memories are weird.

I totally misremembered this game...I believe this was when McNutt switched from QB to WR (in bowl prep), and I thought he actually made an impact on this game. It doesn't look like he had any stats, but he did play, right? Our passing game in this one was mostly TEs (7 rec for 92 yards). And of...

Do you know what Iowa's total pool is? Do you know how much each player on the team gets? Do you know how big their offers to targets are? I don't know any of that stuff, and I have no idea if that info is available somewhere.

    Effed up playoff system

Here is one such crazy idea... First, here is the CFP plan... Each P4 conference has a championship game that determines their entrant into the CFP. The G6 conferences get 3 entrants (pair up conference champs during the same weekend that P4 conferences are having their championship games)...

    Effed up playoff system

My response to the, "Nobody is making you watch bowls," crowd is that everyone here will be watching the Hawkeyes play in a bowl and rooting like crazy. Watching Hawkeye FB is always better than not watching Hawkeye FB. But the big issue is that many here (me included) feel that the non-Iowa...

There was a Josh Patterson from Iowa St. that entered the portal (DB).

I was thinking he was a SR, too, but apparently just a JR! I have always liked Patterson, for how hard he runs on the field, and for how much he seems like a team-oriented dude. That is a lot of young talent in the RB room. Would anyone be surprised if McNeil was the man, next year?

I wish it was more transparent...just like free-agency and the transaction game has become just as compelling in the NBA as the actual games, and I think CFB fans would drool over NIL content.

I have heard Kirk compare this year's team to the 2008 team (and the 2020 team). Really good teams, better than their records indicated, some early stumbles but lots of growth throughout the season. Let's hope this year's bowl game looks like the 2009 Outback! (who gets to play the role of McNutt?)

    Iowa and The Portal.

What do most teams do with NIL and returning players? Do they wait for guys to get offers from other schools, and then try to compete with it (that is how it works in many sectors)? Are most teams pro-actively taking care of their own to promote culture and retention? I honestly have no idea...

I wouldn't turn down LB experience, but I also have confidence in those young guys (Weisskopf, Buffington, and Ries will all be entering their 3rd year on campus; Burke Gautcher is a freshman this year and a 4*). We still have juniors Montgomery (a revelation this year) and Van Kekerix for...

    Notre Dame tantrum

This is what I want (bolded), but I want them to move it to the spring. For teams with new coaches and players (early enrollees and transfers), give the fans an opportunity to see what is coming down the pike. Trying to line it up with Spring Break feels a little too early...maybe late April or...

Nashville local media on Vanderbilt playing Iowa

We all love to think Iowa is being overlooked and relish the opportunity to play the underdog or the spoiler. But let's not forget the TaxSlayer after 2014 (28-45 vs. Tenn), the Rose Bowl after 2015 (16-45 vs. Stanford), the Outback Bowl after 2016 (3-30 vs. Fla), or the Citrus Bowl after 2023...

    Effed up playoff system

I like that for determining a national champ, though I don't mind the idea of more teams getting a chance. It does cheapen the regular season in some ways (not every game feels like life-or-death), but it also keeps more teams' hope alive, which is not a bad thing. But, what becomes of bowls...
