    Kirk Herbstreit has no credibility

For some reason, I was thinking they were undefeated. Better example: 12-1 Dowling vs. 13-0 CR Washington in last year's 4A title game.

    New Commit

Redshirt and fill out that frame some more, and he could be a really good one.

    Kirk Herbstreit has no credibility

The same way that I could say Gladbrook-Reinbeck was a better team before playing Akron-Westfield in a state championship game, despite G-R having two losses and A-W being undefeated. Iowa has done everything it possibly can with the schedule it was given, but the level of competition DOES matter.

    Drew Ott may be back

Just imagine what next year's team might look like if Ott does end up getting the redshirt and King decides to return. School is very important to King, and if this year's team makes the playoff, there could also be the pull of unfinished business to bring him back.

Lincoln Police to hold press conference Wednesday.

Dropped charges =/= false accusations. I certainly can't say that Patrick Kane or Jameis Winston were guilty because I don't know that, but the Pierre Pierce saga should leave this fanbase well aware of the pressure that can be put on a woman accusing a high-profile athlete and the effect that...

    SI Cover

Last time we were on the cover, we were undefeated and ranked #4. The cover story in 2009 was written by Albert Chen, who is also the author of this year's cover story.

More running QB's at Iowa please

I definitely want guys who can run. I don't want Taylor Martinez or Denard Robinson, necessarily, but guys who can make plays with their feet. A guy like Marcus Mariota is the elite version of the type of player I'd like to see the Hawks have; he could absolutely excel as that run-first QB in a...

    Practice Schedule

Players miss Christmas for bowl prep, so I don't see why not.

Fact is MSU got screwed at Nebby and OSU beat no ranked team thus far this year

It's not hard to see it, especially if the Oklahoma schools both win tonight. That'll drop Iowa to 6th, at best, and MSU will obviously make a pretty big move up. Plus you've got to slot OSU in there somewhere. I would expect Iowa to be 6th or 7th, with MSU and at least one Oklahoma school ahead...

So does Iowa now move into the top 4?

This. It'll take something bizarre to put Iowa in the top 4. If TCU and Baylor both win, then maybe. But without Boykin and Doctson, I can't see TCU hanging with OU.

This ain't gonna cut the mustard next two games....

Iowa won't be winning by three scores against OSU, so I don't think we need to worry about the D losing focus.

Got Floyd....but D what the heck was that??

I'm sure it was. There was no reason to force him back into action tonight, not with Canzeri and Daniels both back and Daniels putting on his best Shonn Greene impersonation. I'd bet Wadley could have played if necessary, but it wasn't necessary. Let him rest up so he's not hobbled for weeks...

    Daniels, Beathard and Jewell. .

He turned an ankle last week. Didn't sound like it was serious, so I'm assuming the coaches wanted to hold him out unless they absolutely needed him to play.

Will King leave for the NFL?

That's ridiculous. He's not a burner, so questioning his speed for an NFL corner is fair. But he absolutely has the skills. His ball skills are tremendous, he's a great tackler in the open field (I'd wager he's one of the best in the country at holding the edge in the run game), and while he...

Rankings prediction for this tuesday? (Top 10)

The committee overvalued TCU, in my opinion (and yours, I'm guessing). The fact that I'm not overwhelmed by OK State's win because I thought TCU was overrated to begin with is irrelevant. The committee has a higher opinion of them than I do, which means we can reasonably assume that they'll...

Rankings prediction for this tuesday? (Top 10)

Doesn't matter what you think. It matters what the committee thinks, and they pretty clearly value TCU (and Baylor) more than they probably should have. I won't be surprised if Okie State jumps Iowa. But I won't be surprised if Iowa and Okie State are 6/7, either.

    The New Kirk Myth

New Kirk is way more about the mentality than the schemes. The schematic identity of the program is almost exactly the same as it's always been under Ferentz, no doubt. But we haven't seen the team and coaching staff look this aggressive in terms of their mindset since 2002. The offense has...

    Why the constant Rudock loving?

I've seen more than a few posts in this thread calling him a quitter. And those come up every single time there's a Rudock thread, even though his leaving ensured most fans would get exactly what they wanted, without the added distraction of a QB controversy.

    Why the constant Rudock loving?

Whether the anger was truly directed at Rudock or not, he still took a lot of heat for something he had no control over. And that wasn't going to improve if he won the job again this season.
