    Who’s defense MVP? So far

Phil Parker. His best coaching job to date. If you make me choose a player, its Hall. Having one corner you can count on allows the DC to do so many things in terms of blitzing and protecting the other side. It is a gamechanger.

Is The MG Tush Push Better Than The Stanley Sneak?

This made me chuckle in a good way. Thanks for putting in the time on that post.

4-star QB decommits from Boise State after Iowa football visit

Don't you get the impression that Lester can adapt to any QB, he just wants the best playmaker he can find? As you noted, this year our QB room has a couple Nate Stanleys and a couple Drew Tates. I think Lester will take the most talented guys he can find and sort it out from there.

Is The MG Tush Push Better Than The Stanley Sneak?

Let's put a pin in this and we can virtually wager what happens in the offseason. I predict the rules will be tweaked to ban or curtail the TP in its current form. You believe it will stand. One of us can eat crow in a few months. Caw!!!

    Phil Parker Recognized

Agreed. He was one of the rare breeds that does not test the corporate adage that everyone rises to the level of their own incompetence. He knows his skillset and that he is a force as a DC but might fail as a HC (most do). There is something to be said for stopping one level below the C-suite...

    Phil Parker Recognized

I have opined in previous posts that Parker's success has partially been the result of Iowa playing in the offensively challenged West for so long, and during the BF years Iowa's offense being so bad that opponents played conservatively on offense because they did not need to score a lot of...

Is The MG Tush Push Better Than The Stanley Sneak?

Did you guys see the Vikings tried a strategy of laying a guy sideways in front of the center to prevent the interior line from being the lowest? It kind of worked. This whole situation remains baffling to me. The play is: 1. Boring in that it is almost always successful, even outside of...

Is The MG Tush Push Better Than The Stanley Sneak?

Come on, you know the old saying: "fat kid who can hit? Put him at First Base." I am good with every other game. I have never liked professional DHers. That is not a baseball player, that is a baseball hitter. But, I like the DH rule to spur more offense. There is definitely a compromise...

4-star QB decommits from Boise State after Iowa football visit

I have said this before many times, if I was a kid like this I would take every official I could and take some unofficials as well. When else in life do you get flown for free for a weekend at a cool venue and get your ass kissed, wined and dined, and begged to join an organization? Not often...

Is The MG Tush Push Better Than The Stanley Sneak?

I have a compromise on the DH rule. Allow the DH, but for every 3 games as a DH, the player has to play one on the field. They said that Big Papi didn't even own a baseball glove. That doesn't sit right with me. So, make them play a little in the field, while still avoiding the automatic out...

    How many Big 10 teams?

If Iowa wins out, I would bet my mortgage they are in the playoffs. They would be no worse than third place in one of the two power conferences. I guess in the one in a million chance that the scenario where Washington and Michigan both win out, there might be some handwringing on taking 5 Big...

    How many Big 10 teams?

These perfect scenarios dreamt up midseason never come to pass. Too many variables and there are always upsets. The Big 10 will get between 2-4 teams in. My guess is the Top 3 make it. All of the teams above could make it, but teams like Iowa and Washington and likely Michigan need to win out.

Is The MG Tush Push Better Than The Stanley Sneak?

Stanley's TP was definitively more impressive. Lindy was an alltimer and Stanley was a bull. That was unstoppable. MG doesn't get the same push, but it is still effective. The TP should be banned for three reasons: 1. Its not an American football play. It is a rugby play and I don't like...

Minnesota Radio Announcer Calls Fans 'morons'

100%. This was absolutely hilarious. Good on him. Seems that most are taking it the way it was intended. And hey, there is a bit of truth to the line being applied to Iowa fans. Probably what inspired Wilder to come up with it!

    Hawkeyes And The Playoff Picture

Face it, we are Iowa. We will get no benefit of the doubt. The calculus is simple. Win out, for sure in. Lose one game, for sure we don't make it.

    Gronowki's 4 interceptions this year

Only 4 picks through 7 games is facially pretty good, but then you realize he only throws the ball about 12 times a game. In addition to the picks, he is wildly inaccurate on a lot of throws, especially early in the game and from the pocket. Lester is a great OC, but his early game scripting...

Good Article on Colorado and the Economic Realties of the New Age of CFB

Not at the Blue Bloods. These private jet donors have FU money. Why not spend it on something you are passionate about, even if the money is not always well spent. I would. If I had that kind of money.
