Mark Gronowski talks about disappointing first start,

Well said. I am not sure that the Cade down hill slide was all that slow though. :) More to the point, he assuredly will get better. It may not show up Saturday against a ranked opponent on the road in a hostile environment, but he will get better. He didn't forget how to throw driving from...

Mark Gronowski talks about disappointing first start,

Missing the WR badly in the endzone and short arming it out in the left flat were pretty bad, but other than that it was on par with Hill and Cade and crew. As others have mentioned, at least he can make plays with his feet. This kid is already the best QB we have had since Stanley, even if he...

    For no good reason

This is a great point. Our punter and punt returner are a decided advantage for Iowa. If ISU is starting drives insider their 20, they will play conservatively and any turnovers will be killers. Turnovers and field position can dictate play calling and confidence. A lot. Iowa State does not...

Mark Gronowski talks about disappointing first start,

They did a great Ted Lasso episode where one of the players on the soccer players got the yips after he killed the mascot during a penalty kick. They had to bring in the sports psychologist to fix him. I get the yips on 50% of my golf shots! :)

    For no good reason

Other than the one brain fart drive that Iowa always seems to give up in the first half, the defense, including the secondary, was dominant against a very weak opponent on Saturday. ISU was a bit sloppy against KState, but part of that was weather and field conditions. They have a good QB...

Clones a 3 point favorite at this point

Sharp money is going to come in late for ISU if this line holds. Its 2.5 on some sites. Again, I would not touch this game with my own money, but based upon watching both teams play with my own eyes, the line is low.

Kirk Moves Into Tie As Big Ten All-Time Winningest Coach

It is an odd stat indeed. KF will be a HOFer, but really, they need a separate thing called the Hall of Above Average with Longevity.

Kirk Moves Into Tie As Big Ten All-Time Winningest Coach

Not to pee in the cheerios, but they went to a 12 game schedule in 2006, there were not conference championship games, and back in the day there were like 6 bowls. Now there are 50. So, KF has had probably like 25 more game opportunities than Woody. Still, that is not my focus. Woody Hays is...

Mark Gronowski talks about disappointing first start,

The kickoff time probably did not help. An 11 am kick would have given him less time in his head. He has already played more football than most college players ever will, albeit at a lower level. He wasn't under particular pressure by the D, he just yipped a few throws. That is fixable. He...

Kirk Moves Into Tie As Big Ten All-Time Winningest Coach

It would be sweet to break the record against The Clowns, but that is a tall order this year, like every year.

Mark Gronowski talks about disappointing first start,

LOL. Let's just be glad we did not have SDSU on our schedule again this year!

Clones a 3 point favorite at this point

I would never bet this game. To many weird things happen. Last year we had the game in hand until our secondary lost their minds on one big play. How many times have one team or the other lost, or nearly lost, to an FCS team like UNI, and then the next week that same team beats up on its...

Mark Gronowski talks about disappointing first start,

Sully showed us his ceiling. It was relatively low. He was never going to be anything but average, if that. What we saw from MG Saturday was his floor. I still think that he has a lot of upside to his game. Even if he doesn't get materially better as a passer, Sully wasn't any better...

Mark Gronowski talks about disappointing first start,

I think we can give the kid a pass, but he does need to work through those jitters and deliver the ball better. Even if he never gets any better, he is still much better than anything we have had since Stanley. At least this kid can use his legs and make plays. And, he is a big boy. I am...

Predict first Iowa play on offense

Play action. Look deep, but its not there. Deep crossing route behind the LBs for 18 yards.

    Predictions for Albany

The more I read and consider this match-up, I am sort of pissed Iowa is playing this much of a cupcake. I know when these things get scheduled you can't know how good or bad a team will be, but this team could get taken out by a good D2 school. And I have to wait until 5 to watch this...

    Predictions for Albany

SDSU has been a powerhouse at that level for several years now. They are not an Albany.

Who Will Be The Starting Running Back

I did see that KF stated that the freshmen RB is the only true Frosh likely to see action Saturday. Does that mean little Eppy is not in line for snaps? I find that hard to believe, but KF does not give snaps to Frosh lightly.

    Well shit....

He was on the depth chart, but not starting. That tells me that other guys have made a very big impression on the coaches, because we know that he has been healthy and we saw what he can do when he was healthy as a true frosh last year. This room seems to have some depth.
