Fran was here 15 years and was a pretty stubborn person. It would be easier to sympathize with him, if he had made a better attempt to embrace all aspects of coaching, and not just the on-the-court stuff.

I don’t know. If Owen Freeman decides to stay in conference, IMO, he should go to Purdue. Matt Painter could coach him up, just as well, if not better than Fran could. I fully acknowledge that I don’t know Purdue’s roster situation or what they would be able to pay him.

Hindsight No one knew that Butler had a 20 something rock star as a potential head coach. You would have to be part of the Butler administration or super deep in the basketball world to even see it. I won’t defend Barta on much, but I will defend him on the Lickliter hire.
