Official Iowa @ Ohio St game thread

1st 6.5min of each half v. Mich was -7. Tough to comeback from -14. 1st 6.5min today v. OSU was -11. Coming back again. Surviving this half. Better matchups when Iowa subs this game.

Official Michigan @ Iowa game thread

Wis 3 bigs, Kofi, Eddy/Williams(2), Rutgers big, Dickinson/Diabate, Dbl OT at PSU. Just don't have a big for these teams. Nunge having a great season at Xavier. Change lineup again?? Got outscored by 7 the first 6.5min of each half. 14pts a lot to make up over the other 27min

A couple people who were sitting close to the floor said Connor was the one doing the coaching during the timeouts.

Purdue @ Iowa Official Game thread

Like football, Purdue just plays well v. Iowa. They've had their best 3pt shooting games at CHA the few years. Tonight, no exception. Mon @ PSU in big, can go 5-5 at midpt of conf schedule, playing half on the road

Rest of the season projections and thoughts

The Big10 is just a brutally competitive conference. Ohio St was down 4, 30 sec left @ Neb, got to OT and won. NW won at Mich St by 2, lost on final possession tonight @ Mich. Ill has lost to Purdue at home in 2OT and beat MichSt at home by 1 Iowa needed 3ptr @ Minn in last minute in 1...

    CHA Fact Check

Getting back to attendance, start times a major factor. Not having set start times a minor one, but matters. Being involved in high school sports - playing games on Tues & Fri has diminished interest in massive amounts. Majority of HS players don't talk about college ball, players, watch it...

    Iowa @ Wisconsin Game Thread

Need to find a way to 8-2 at home, 2-8 on the road in league play.

    Iowa @ Wisconsin Game Thread

I can't imagine having the hip surgeries that JBo and CMac had and trying to practice and compete at the Big10 level. No way either of those are 100%

    The 22/23 Schedule

No idea. Go back and look at predictions for this past season. Ind and ISU ranked ahead of Iowa. IIRC the over/under was 8.5 wins? Too many variables, too much time. Several of this years' opponents had a ton of 5th & 6th yr players. I'll take over 8 wins.

    Inexcusable

You're correct - 'I've never understand' - 'understood' would work here.... Because they are kids - still developing & growing as people/players. Being coached to improve in all areas. Going from 220lbs to 300 in less than 3yrs. Start with Dallas Clark as a walk-on LB and tell a 100 more...

2 capable running backs and OLine came to life; mostly really good defense

Reminder: "We need a QB." not disagreeing on lack of progress, but Petras was a 4Star recruit. Bowl game performance evaluation: Excited about 2nd half offense, til walking back to hotel after game and Kent fan pointed out 4 defensive starters not playing. Not sure how you evaluate some of...

    Rattler

Looking thru some Transfer Portal commitments - 85% of these are P5 going to G5, FCS, some G5 to DII, NAIA. Obvious players who want to play and maybe realize what their level is now. Iowa (ZVV, CJones) looking at guys the other way; under recruited, showed they can play, maturity, want to...

How did the O Line get so bad?

This years' OLine likely would have been Kallenberger, Ince, Linderbaum, Schott, Wirfs. That's 5yr, 4yr, 4yr, 5yr, 4yr experience, reps, skill, size, etc. Going pro, retiring, injuries (not just a week off) affected 4 of 5 spots. Couple other guys just washed out of the program (not unusual)...

Gavin Williams really accelerates straight ahead into the holes

Williams is less beat up/fresh at this time. See Allen on Wis - didn't run the first 4 games See Mich - 2 back system. Minn - decent season with 4th/5th RB running. Or see Neb QB who gets the crap beat out of him and ends up not making it thru the season. See BTN replay last night of 2002...

Could this be KF's last shot at a Big Ten title?

Think Hawks will have just as good of chance next season to get to Indy, thus a Big10 title chance. Lots of West teams losing several 5th/6th yr guys. Transfer portal - for everyone. Iowa may return the most experience of any team and all will improve with more development. Changes in coaching...

Honest answer which brings more joy- a win over ISU or Nebraska

Neb - mutual disdain by both Iowa schools for those not in reality west of the Missouri

The it's too early who all is going to be back next yr thread

I wasn't thinking about Hawks when i saw this thread title. Looking at opponents - several loaded with 5th & 6th yr this year. Iowa has chance to be the most experienced team in the West. It'll be interesting to see how all these teams and coaching staffs handle the transfer portal...

    Iowa Nebraska line

Don't want to agree with this, but it is true - in hindsight. Massey composite Index - most of these ratings based on position when games were played, not how season played out. Weird to look back and remember when Indiana, ISU, MLand, Penn St, were all ranked when Iowa played them. 3 of...
