Iowa gets grad transfer from Nevada

Statistically, AW's numbers may suffer a bit, but I like the idea of have fresh legs in the 4th quarter. I think that can only benefit both players and the offense. I also think it allows for more schemes such as using AK in the slot and etc. Both backs have high motors which is exciting and the...

    And this is why...

Exactly! Inferior teams have nothing to lose and all to gain. Whereas, and we have seen it many times where an early upset crushes a teams season before it gets started.

    My 2017 Iowa Football Prediction

I like it. I think Iowa can definitely do this if they execute. Iowa is not going to blow anyone out. Every game will likely be close and if we control the line of scrimmage and field position, I think this is very attainable. I just hate big expectations. We seem to be the type of team when we...

Iowa gets grad transfer from Nevada

Maybe not Bayless. I stand corrected. I was referring more to depth than anything. We have had some lean years at running back. Bayless had one breakout year the year he took over for Harmon. (His junior year). His senior year he lost his starting job due to injury. As for Paki, I believe he...

    My 2017 Iowa Football Prediction

I'm comfortable with saying we win 7 with an outside chance of stealing one to get 8. I think our line play on both sides will be the key. Even with questions at QB and WR, I think we move the ball with steady line play.

Iowa gets grad transfer from Nevada

Exactly, I remember the days where Paki O'Meara and Rick Bayless were our go to backs due to injury. Both were way down the depth chart.

Iowa gets grad transfer from Nevada

I like the idea that he is a graduate transfer and can immediately play. It's a little odd coming from the situation he is in. Maybe its the new OC and a chance to play closer to home. Either way, it could pay dividends to have an experienced back to spell Wadley.

Josey Jewell #29 in SI Top 100 CFB Players for 2017

Iowa isn't and hasn't tried to fool anyone. That may change under Brian Ferentz, but Iowa relies on fundamentals and execution. Any coach that is interviewed will say they know what Iowa does, but will say that Iowa executes and does the basics better than most (tackling, blocking, and etc).

Stock Report: Hawkeye Football Recruiting 2018

I just hate getting my hopes up for future recruits. You get some as far out as 2019. That's a long time. Hopefully with some success this season, we keep the recruiting success rolling. I like what I see!

Iowa Well-Positioned as John Waggoner Creeps Closer to Decision

And it's a storied program. Plus Waggoner attends Dowling, a Catholic prep school. While this may not be the end all, it would be nice to nail down some of these high end in state recruits.

Josey Jewell #29 in SI Top 100 CFB Players for 2017

You're spot on. That is exactly what they will do. Stop the run or put us in positions of having to throw the ball and dial up the pressure. One thing that might help is Wadley's ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and his elusiveness. Although, at some point and time our passing...

    Earning the QB job

I'm definitely concerned, but hoping that our defense and run game will help take pressure of a young quarterback. I also think Ken O'Keefe will help immensely in prepping both quarterbacks to succeed under the current system. As we have seen for years, the system does not ask much of the...

Iowa Well-Positioned as John Waggoner Creeps Closer to Decision

I like the idea of getting these long athletic types that are tight ends and defensive ends and eventually working them into athletic defensive lineman. Iowa seems to have great success in recruiting those types of players and plugging them in. Hopefully Waggoner is no different and can see the...

Josey Jewell #29 in SI Top 100 CFB Players for 2017

Wadley reminds me of a LeShaun McCoy type. He is set up to have a big year. If our offensive line is as advertised, this definitely is one of our keys to success. As for Jewell, the guy is a stud. I think in some aspects he is just as important to success. Both Wadley and McCoy make people...

    About that coach at Iowa

I had criticisms of KF over the years, but for the most part, I think he is a great coach. Often times, the saying, "Iowa does more with less than most teams," has been said and sometimes used as a crutch. I do think KF and staff have began to make changes to adapt their style to what is needed...
