    Texas - Bama

Waiving roughing / targeting was correct, but probably should have been grounding and a safety. (originally- as the announcers said they couldn't review that)

    Texas - Bama

Whoever called targeting there should be fired.

    Texas - Bama

10 - 10 at the half. Gus & Joel keep praising Texas, but to me this is more about Bama not looking that good.

    Texas - Bama

When was the last time you watched a game ( at any level ) where you weren't jealous of their offense ( the design, if not the results )? Adrian Martinez looking pretty comfortable running K State's O against Misery.

Looks like maybe rain on Saturday

Freedom Bowl? Ah, but OSU in the rain the next year was one of his worst games.

This is what I want to know.

Begs the question, is there an "alternate universe" out there somewhere where: Wilson went to Iowa and had 3 increasingly "underwhelming" years as the starter, while Petras went to BYU, did so well he was the #2 overall draft pick in the League, had an "underwhelming" 1st year, but then gained...

This is what I want to know.

Best guesses, as I wouldn't claim to follow any of these too closely: PSU (Clifford) and MN (Morgan): inconsistent talent around them means they overachieved initially, and then back down to earth since (those 1st years set expectations too high?). Indiana (Pennix): couldn't stay healthy Neb...

Barry Alvarez Would Never Have Let His HC Keep Brian Ferentz On Staff

I do. In fact if you check my original post you'll see I edited it to say "P5" 45 minutes before you posted this. But thanks for asking!

Dabo Just Signed For 10 YR/$115M

I wouldn't say they were nothing. Dabo started in '08. From '00 to '07 they had winning seasons every year, w/ 3 top-25 finishes. Back in 81 they won the Natty. From '82-'93 they had 4 top-10 and 5 more top-25 finishes.

Barry Alvarez Would Never Have Let His HC Keep Brian Ferentz On Staff

I gave records for the last 5 years, and said the West IS one of the worst. IS implies current state, not 8 years ago state. But... how many B1G championships has the West won in that time? As stated in that article, none. How many times has the West been better represented in the final...

Dabo Just Signed For 10 YR/$115M

But this new contract is obviously based on those "Clemson standards"! Last year at one point they were 4-3 ( 3-3 against FBS ). In that span they had a Ferentz-quality offense- a high output of 21 against FBS teams ( and that was a 2 OT game! ). They had fallen from #3 to unranked. Then...

Barry Alvarez Would Never Have Let His HC Keep Brian Ferentz On Staff

    Well let's see... Here are those last 5 years. B1G record & West results. Generally they've had favorable crossovers, and the West is one of the weakest divisions in FBS (edit: yes, I meant P5). 2017 4-5 T3rd 2018 5-4 T2nd 2019 6-3 3rd 2020 6-2 2nd 2021 7-2 1st That's a record of...

Dabo Just Signed For 10 YR/$115M

Barta would approve of the timing of this. Terrible year last year. Struggled first game this year. Former #1 HS qb a bust already? So... bam! Huge extension. I guess maybe this is a "buy low" move?

    Scuttle: Changes are coming

BF & KF evaluating the Chiefs' playbook: "FOUR guys have deep routes?!? That can't be legal!" "< snort > Most of these plays don't even use a fullback!" "It's like they're TRYING to confuse the defense!" Maybe they could try something more like the Indiana / Purdue playbook. Might help...

    Scuttle: Changes are coming

I wasn't trying to argue w/ you about this. But... given your reply I'll ask you this: I think most of us would agree last year's offense was lousy. Yet, nothing like this kind of move happened (that we know of or saw evidence of). KF, in fact, promoted the coordinator after last year. So...

    The facts don't lie

No. Peterson was in studio. Helfrich, as he said, was the game analyst.

    Scuttle: Changes are coming

I don't know what to think about this. On one hand, opening up starting spots to competition is unlike KF. On the other hand, opening them up based solely on who practices the best? Obviously the KF way!

    The facts don't lie

Exactly! Guy shouldn't be on the 2-deep at an FBS program, but he's supposedly gonna make a big difference? He's the missing piece? Keegan will help, if only because it'll be harder for Petras to overthrow him...
