Seriously...right on.
Very right on.
BCS = (take your pick)
SHAM: Something that is not what it purports to be; a spurious imitation.
FACADE: A showy outward appearance that is maintained to conceal a less pleasant or creditable reality.
SHARADE: An absurd pretense intended to create a...
2005 proved that the DL is where success starts and stops. Having two stud LBs and an average DL doesn't get it done.
IMO, last year was a disgrace and will haunt/hang over the program for a long time. We had legitimate BCS-champ talent all over the place. Offensive execution and player apathy...
#1 is sorta fine, since again, I think the cupcake-playing-field is balanced out, but #2 is really the important issue. #2 would put real numbers to #1. #2 should be used with abandon at season's end to determine who really played the good teams, etc. NCAA BB couldn't live without it. The...
#1--I ignore the 2 (usually) or 3 (sometimes) cupcakes all big-time football machine programs play pre-league. Those "wins" in a total at the end of the year are irrelevent IMO.
#2--By being ranked, you've a.) caught somebody's (somebodies) eye, and b.) are above the crowd, cupcakes included...
Time, way past time, to quit using "bowl games", or worse, "bowl game eligible" as a measuring stick of success.
It's not. It's, in fact, laughable.
League winning-percentage is, as is being ranked in the top 25 at season's end.
This is an excellent point.
I also hope this helps snap Iowa out of it's 7-8 win per season/cool to play in a 3rd teir bowl game/stay the course/don't worry about anybody else cuz we do what we do doldrums.
I'd prefer a graduated rebate based upon regular season wins. The rebate would apply to season ticket holders and would include parking space money as well as contribution and "seat" donations.
10+ wins, no rebate
9 wins, 5% rebate
8 wins 10% rebate
7 wins, 20% rebate
(You can clearly...
Since 2004, KF has become Iowa's Glen Mason.
6-7 regular season wins a year, third tier bowl game.
It wasn't good enough for Minnesota, but apparently, it is for Iowa.
No, and I didn't go to San Antonio to watch a 6-6 team play again and I didn't last year to watch the underachieving fat-cats play again.
I figure my $2K yearly contribution to watch this sort of product at Kinnick is enough.
