Jon is right re: Hoiberg's popularity

what was the guy's name who scored 54 points plus or minus a few against the Hawks maybe 20 years ago when they won in overtime? I think it was Sylvester Rhodes or something like that. Maybe Hoiberg should get him as an assistant. I would wager that just as many Hawk fans of my age remember...

Iowa-bound Marble to play in Michigan All-Star game

I am excited too, also for Roy Sr. What a nice thing to have happen to a guy who has had his ups and downs to have his son playing right down the road, and likely to log significant minutes from the get go. Also its great that this kid clearly wants to be a Hawk more than anything.

The "honeymoon" is over with Coach Fran...

Wow Hawkfan22, don't hold back! Let it all out and you'll feel better.

    McCaffery Statement on Brust

No, you are right about sales pitches. But its the percentages that matter over the long haul. I'd still rather acknowledge that its the kid's call, and we will move forward with or without them.

    McCaffery Statement on Brust

The best way in the world to close any sale is to make your pitch, and then tell them to decide what's best for them. Either you get the deal, or look for a better thing to sell.

    McCaffery Statement on Brust

Oh Train Master, thank you for your words of wisdom. Sorry to be ageist, but I am betting this comes from decades of experience. It kills me that we are losing AF, still hate to think about Jake Kelly blossoming and leaving, just like AF. But they are kids and need to do their thing. We have...

    Iowa vs. Stanford game thread

Yo MCHS Hawkeye, from one to another, Look at the men's brackets from top to bottom, women's too. This is what MM is all about, the little guy taking down the big guy, ALA UNI, Go Hawks, but right now, go UNI! The little guys don't win it all, but they definitely slay giants.

I have decided to vote YES

for Steve Forbes for our next head BB coach. The Congressional Budget Office says although he'll command some serious bucks, that over the next decade his tenure will be a financial plus for the U. of I. On a serious note, thanks to Jon for providing a lot of info about all the possible...

    Why Iowa ties are important

GhostofBTT-no entiendo bien el frances, asi que nos das la traduccion por favor. Anyone who sprinkles their posts with french is under suspicion in my view for lack of IA ties. Este estado tiene muchos hispanos, asi que nos tomes en cuenta por favor.

Will the Oregon opening effect our coaching search?

I don't see a big difference between those who post their personal BB opinions as fact, or those who cite rules of grammar. If you post a lot or write for a living, you might as well get it right.

Don't Dismiss the B.J. Armstrong Talk

I don't take this as someone who is looking for a coaching job, rather someone who loves the Hawks, has some experience, and wants to help. No one needs to cite sources or tell me this is the case. This is a given. When a university has resources like B. J. Armstrong available it would only...

    Lets Be Respectful

Todd Lickliter, notwithstanding some serious $ every year for 3, he is a fine man and deserves our good wishes.

    Darkhorse Candidates...

For those of us who still think Steve Forbes is a billionaire who once ran for president of the US, how about a few details on where he is now, his history, etc. As a native of the land between two rivers (Mason City), it would be cool to have an IA guy as head coach. But I'd rather get the...

How would B10 bottom five fare elsewhere?

I think this is a great idea, totally serious. Of course the devil might be in the details, as usual. Once you are there, if its a decent place to watch BB, you'll have fun.

    Brendrew Couger

since no one else has taken the bait here, I'll give it a shot. I don't think you can make a reasonable assessment of Cougill for a couple of years. For all his size, 3 pt. shooting skill, etc., he still looks like a gigantic middle school kid. Big kids develop slowly, and I am hoping that...

    Eric May: Eating Crow

I was in love w/ Jake Kelly since he played tough D and could score inside and out. I believe the BB gods have smiled on us in the form of Eric M. Kelly was a little smoother moving into the paint, but I don't remember any thunderdunks from him. If we had to lose Jake, at least we got a good...

    Improvement this season

Stillbuster-are you a novelist by trade? Just kidding, very good analysis of the bright aspects to a disappointing season. Lots of good things going on, we just need more of everything, and more bodies next fall. It's comin.........

    Eric May's Dunk

I loved May's flying thunderdunk, but when you consider talent and athletic ability, not to mention size, J. Lickliter's reverse layup was probably just as awesome. Say what you MAY, no pun intended, but the kid is not afraid to drive if he sees an opening. Cully has some nice finishes too.

If the result was different, would you like the "system"?

Frankly I don't get the "boring" thing. When our offense was running reasonably well in the first half of today's game, and we were getting good shots both inside and outside, I was enjoying the game. I figured the second half would be different, and unfortunately it was. But there are not...

How about a special "geezer section"?

for those of us over 50, or maybe even 60. No ID required tho. Anyone who can remember the old Fieldhouse maybe. It would be a refuge from the young at heart who just can't handle the natural up and downs cycles of college athletics. I was just thinking that the Hawks in wrestling are sort...
