He's a 7 or 8 win coach on a team that is improving and bound to get lucky at some point and win 10. Then, he will get serious looks from other big name schools. He is probably hoping for something terrible to happen at Ohio State at the same time, so he can pounce.

He got his TD by taking advantage of a matchup problem. Nobody thought Stanley would actually throw to him!

I, for one, just hoped that Martin would do well. Still do. It would be nice to see what seems like a good local kid do well.

I suppose all things being considered, he still could have wanted to be true to his roots and help with rebuilding right up to the last moment. However, the reasons given were not coin flips.

The current redshirt rule means that some of the least important players can play a little without costing a year of eligibility. That is quite different that the suggestion of a rule where your best players can play all but 2 games. It would be awful to try to manage which two games you don't...

Having a rule that not all players can play every game would be really interesting. But wrong!

I worry about linemen coming in too heavy. Then, you have to start by helping them lose weight first before putting on good weight. Seems unlikely that someone is coming out of high school with a "good 300 pounds." Maybe these guys are the exceptions.
