    Cowherd complimenting Iowa?

Meh. He's just hedging his bets against Iowa.

Which Ferentz QB if drive needed to win the game

With this offensive line, I would be tempted to take Tate for his pocket presence and ability to scramble.

Which Ferentz QB if drive needed to win the game

Any of them, if we can have the 2002 offensive line, circa Michigan game.

    How scary is it

Something that doesn't get mentioned often enough is Petras personal makeup seems to be rather level headed an mentally tough. So far he hasn't cracked under pressure. To an extent his footwork is affected by pressure, but we haven't seen him, freeze up, panic, start making self-defeating...

Nebbie's Game Tonight Likely Decides Frost's Fate

As far as I am concerned Nebraska can win all it wants to between now and the Ohio State game. Just so they come crashing back to earth in time for the Iowa game. I would be perfectly happy to see them retain Frost.

Offensive Line, A Work in Progress

Actually, I don't think Iowa's line needs to be all that great to win the game. It simply can't play as poorly as it did against Colorado State. Perhaps more like its performance against Kent State. If it can perform on that level and have passing game more in sync, I think that bodes well...

    Iowa @ Maryland prediction thread

I'm going out on a limb here and predicting one of the two teams will end its winning streak. I'm also trying not to be overly negative about this, but I'm fairly certain it will happen.

    Some Levity On Rankings...

I've noticed over the years that FPI tends to underestimate Iowa's performance and Sagerin overestimates. I had always assumed it was because Iowa style of football was a bit of an outlier. I've never delved into the formulas for this sort of thing and don't think I would want to.

    Some Levity On Rankings...

Being on the bottom of the list with a narrow standard deviation is really bad news. You probably noticed that SDevs at the bottom narrow.

Compare and Contrast with 2017 Situation.

Stanley's scoring came in big bunches, especially that first year. When got a decent amount of time back there and got the adrenaline monster under control, he transformed into one of the more dangerous quarterbacks in college football. Petras hasn't shown that sort of breakout when...

Interesting next game up for Maryland is Kent St

As long as blocking remains an issue, sustaining long drives is going to be an issue. Iowa is going to have to mix short yardage plays with larger chunks of yardage. Sustained drives of more than 9 plays are going to be hard to come by. Got to get business done in less than that.

When did Boettger go down? It was very early if I remember right. Was it the Iowa State game?

Wadley also got scrunched pretty regularly in the backfield. Despite that he still put up good rushing numbers.

Compare and Contrast with 2017 Situation.

Remains to be seen. I worried about experience and size in the middle of the line. Shannon, Lee, and Van Ness have done quite well. Black struggled a bit, but seems to have stepped it up the last two games. Really good back seven on both teams. I don't think I have ever seen an Iowa...

I was waiting for someone to say this. Look at all those close games, Penn State, Michigan State and Northwestern. A solid punter could have been the difference in multiple games.

Compare and Contrast with 2017 Situation.

Petreus has a year of experience behind him. Stanley was new and would have a persistent issue with freezing up when strong pressure was applied by a good defense. He was pretty much deer in the headlights for Penn State, Michigan State, Northwestern, Wisconsin, and Purdue. I'm not seeing...
