So Would Iowa be better off in Big 12?

We have a number of Iowa State trolls that ooze into this Board. Right now the top two threads are this incredibly silly topic of leaving the best conference in the country for a second tier league, and the second is celebrating ISU's latest loss. I can see the thread now back on the ISU...

    Hawkeyes Should Look to Future

If KF retires today he somehow still gets in. I know he is just below 60%, but they can justify it somehow. Throw out his Maine years or something dumb like that. He has had a HOF career by any reasonable measure of a career. That said, I hope it is motivating him to grind out another...

    Hawkeyes Should Look to Future

Fair enough and not saying your sense of history repeating itself may not come true. It could. That said, two distinguishing factors. Recruiting had really dipped under Fry towards the end. KF has stayed steady in that regard. Fry had also lost so many great assistants. KF still has Parker...

So Would Iowa be better off in Big 12?

And we have a winner for the dumbest proposal for Iowa athletics in recent memory!! Nice work. Seriously though I don't mind the effort to get some additional action on the Board. Got me to respond!

    Hawkeyes Should Look to Future

You really have forgotten how thin things got those last couple years under HF. This season is no where near that. We still could win 8 games and go to a Florida bowl this season. UCLA is better than their record. Not an excuse, but its true. Iowa never plays well in California.

    Indiana

Agreed. My son went to Indiana. Great school. Since KF laid an egg this year and we dropped out of the playoff race a month ago, let's adopt Indiana on this Board!

    Hawkeyes Should Look to Future

Far be it from me to disagree with the venerable Mr. Howe, but here I go. The best way to ensure better play in '25 is to finish off '24 strong. Recruiting, talent, NIL, transfers are all impacted by perception and momentum. We have an ancient coaching staff and are viewed, charitably, as...

    Indiana

Good coaching and faith can go along ways to propelling a team to a great season. They believe in their coach and fight for him and that's awesome. HOWEVER, come on, they have played NO ONE. Washington, Nebraska and Michigan are their best wins. All were at home. None of those teams are...

Does Iowa have a turf problem?

Iowa is a big slow team for the most part. Grass usually helps that. That said, there is some validity to the original poster's theory. If you practice and play on turf, there is a adjustment to grass playing services. Its as good an explanation as any for the way the defenses have looked on...

That must be one hell of a concussion

Why aren't they already? Never understood why they don't just start making the helmets out of something with some give. Those cap things look stupid, but there has to be a way to may the helps out of something other than hard plastic that also does not look dumb.

    About UCLA

It also may not be a bad time to break out some read option. That isn't exactly a trick play, but puts pressure on the D. I fear if we just line up and run right at these guys we may not love the results. We can move the ball, but we might need a more nuanced approach. Let's hope Lester...

    About UCLA

I concur. Might not be a bad time to dip into Hayden's bag of tricks for an early flea flicker or halfback pass or something. The defense is going to be coming hard to stop the run. Would be great to get some early momentum through some chicanery.

    About UCLA

I doubt Vegas is giving them much of a home field advantage given that half the crowd will probably be Iowa fans. I guess Vegas sees us coming off a QB change and back to back 40 point games, and sees a very flawed UCLA team with a poor record, but who has been playing better of late...

That must be one hell of a concussion

With Lachey it will be based on measurables and reputation, and maybe last year's tape, but damn they are not getting the kid the ball this year.

That must be one hell of a concussion

Absolutely the case in Omaha. My son played varsity soccer and two of the starters on his team did not finish the season due to concussions. Just about any competitive contact sport has the risk of concussions, but with sports like soccer and football, head contact is built into the game...

That must be one hell of a concussion

CTE is real. No doubt. I don't think it is any of our place to judge when guys play or not or for how long. The doctors should explain the risks and each person decides what is best for his and his family. I will say you don't see a lot of reported evidence of CTE from playing college and...

That must be one hell of a concussion

As I posted a week ago in another thread, the conversation could have been, "Cade, we were going to play Sully anyway, but you just took a hell of a hit. Let's get you checked out by the Doc, but you are done for the day."

That must be one hell of a concussion

I've seen Tua knocked out with his arms frozen twice now and he is still playing. Whether that is wise or not is between him and his family. Everyone recovers differently. From my armchair it seems like most guys miss a couple weeks in concussion protocol and then are released. Doesn't shock...

    About UCLA

27 and we win for sure. UCLA's offense is competent at best. Against, our D, I don't see them breaking 20. That said, I don't see our offense scoring 27 unless we get some ST/D help.
