Update on the Future of HN

I like many of the ideas, but I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of the UCONN site format. I think your current format is superior. I guess I'm just more averse to change.

Who's the better QB, '11 Jones or '10 Gabbert?

Iowa has had a talented roster the past few years. It was a shame the Shonn Greene 2009 team and the 2010 teams lost so many games with a roster loaded with future NFL talent. Iowa has been able to compete with anyone. They also have shown the frequent ability to lose to anyone. No excuses...

Who's the better QB, '11 Jones or '10 Gabbert?

That TD to interception ratio is misleading. They put up over 500 yards against ISU. They had 2 TD's (both short rushing TD's) and settled for 4 short FG's. It's not like they were struggling to move the ball. The Baylor game he didn't have any passing TD's, but they had over 600 yards (447...

Who's the better QB, '11 Jones or '10 Gabbert?

A crap shoot? Oklahoma is considered the #4 team in the country per Jeff Sagarin and we are 18 point dogs at #41. Even with a couple players out, they are a more talented team and should be heavily favored.

    Chad Greenway

If you follow the Viking forums at all, Chad has been considered a disappointment by most posters and Minnesota local media. He gets a lot of tackles after giving up a completion. He rarely makes big plays and hasn't been much of a leader. He's been very mediocre this season. Per Pelisero...

    Coker....legal

You cannot be held accountable for the content on your board. That would never hold in any court. It is unreasonable to think that a moderator has 24/7 control over the content placed by posters. This would be like holding someone accountable if another individual posted material on their...

Are Hawkeye Fans becoming Cub Fans?

The OP asked a general question, but I fail to see where he asked to be insulted or have his intelligence mocked. Maybe you can point me in that direction since your post reeks of intellectual elitism. Secondly, the mistake in grammar on his part could have easily been the result of autotype on...

Why did Cayle Byers leave Iowa?

I never heard the official reason. Brands didn't seem to want to speak publicly about it. I'd be curious about Baldasaro too.

This is the last year on the UNI - Iowa contract

Everytime we fail to beat an instate rival whether it be ISU in football or UNI in basketball, the threads pop up with people whining to discontinue future matchups. How about we just beat them. If Kirk can't beat ISU routinely, it's a poor job on his part. If Fran can't beat UNI, same thing.

If Iowa woud have beaten ISU and

So we shouldn't care about losing those games? Regardless of the Bowl outcome, those games probably negated any chance of reaching the top 25 even with a bowl win. To act like it doesn't matter because of the bowl bid doesn't make any sense.

Iowa opens as -16 point underdog

People jumping on the points bandwagon need to realize that despite being 9-3, Oklahoma is calculated as the 4th best team via Sagarin rating system. Jeff has Iowa as 18 point dogs. That said, it may work in our favor that our rating might be skewed heavily by the bad losses to Minnesota and ISU.

    Sagarin rankings

I would guess Iowa outplays the predictor line quite a bit against better teams and underplays it against lesser teams. I think OU will be a definite favorite, but I think we can make a game of it.

    Sagarin rankings

I'm sure they are disappointed enough losing the way way they did to Okie State and then drawing us as an opponent. This might play into our advantage since this game would be a huge win for our program regardless if they are having a disappointing season.

    Sagarin rankings

Yeah, I included the others to give perspective. It does indicate that UNI got screwed only getting the 5 seed in 1aa since they are rated here as the 2nd best 1aa team right behind the only team they lost to.

    Sagarin rankings

Oklahoma (9-3) is still #4 Texas and Missouri both (7-5) are #16 and #15 Michigan State (10-3) and Michigan (10-2) are both ranked lower (#20 and #17) Iowa (7-5) is way down at #43. Iowa State (6-6) is #29 Northern Iowa is #66 one place below Northwestern His formula makes the Big Ten...

    The problem with this roster

I agree on this, but disagree with the poster who overrates Marble. He might still improve, but I never see him as an impact player. I think he's a mid-major talent who could play some spot minutes off the bench for us if we improve as a team.

    The problem with this roster

I think Gatens can be starter material at this level. I could see him being a type of player like Kent McCausland was if he had talent around him and wasn't relied on as the #1 or 2 option on offense. McCausland had players like Settles, Oliver, Rucker, Koch, Jaacks and others who could collapse...
