Breaking down the Top 4 Teams for Nationals

I don't think Okie St loses the Russian either. Both PSU and OKie state will be tough again next year. PSU loses Wade and Molinaro, but they get Alton back who will probably contend for a title.

How many wins to make the NCAA tournament?

It's going to be a longshot, but not out of the question. We still have 6 games remaining with bottom feeders (PSU, Nebraska and Northwestern). I think we need to go at least 5-1 if not 6-0 in these games. 5 wins here would give us 16 total. We would then probably have to win 3 of the...

Is KF's job to win football games or send bodies to the NFL?

Well Illinois went in 2007 with 3 losses so there's one for you in the BCS age. It's much easier to make a bcs bowl game now than in Fry's era. You at least had to tie for 1st in the conference standings to be eligible. Now you have the opportunity to have two BCS teams from the Big Ten.

Is KF's job to win football games or send bodies to the NFL?

Not sure why you think the Illinois market is so bad. They were ranked 10th last year for states with most recruits signed. Missouri was 22nd, Minnesota was 29 and Iowa was 31. Wisconsin was 36th and Bielema doesn't seem to have a problem competing every year.

Is KF's job to win football games or send bodies to the NFL?

Um, those Gopher's teams were 6-5 those two years, similar to the Northwestern team that beat us our Orange Bowl season they just didn't get the soft preseason schedule NU did. Minnesota also knocked off Ohio State in '81 and they won the conference that year.

Is KF's job to win football games or send bodies to the NFL?

Just checked - Oklahoma only has 3 incoming recruits thus far from instate and Okie St. just one. Nebraska and Boise St only have 1 recruit from instate.

Is KF's job to win football games or send bodies to the NFL?

How exactly are Lincoln Nebraska, Boise Idaho, Stillwater and Norman Oklahoma any better off? We should stop making excuses for mediocre seasons. We have the Mineapolis, St. Louis and Chicago markets right across the boarder without great programs in those states to compete with. Fry didn't...

    Mel

He really baffles me. Last year I thought he played very well for a freshman. He put up 22 points, 13 rebs and 6 blocks against Sullinger last season. He scored 20/10 against Ohio St., Minnesota and and Indiana and had a double-double against Wisconsin. I expected his numbers to drop a...

Iowa's attrition vs other major programs?

Wow, you're a real fruit. You want the last word have it. I'm done. You've already hijacked the thread enough.

    Other than Bennie Sapp...

The kids that seem to transfer the most are those that are beat out for positions by more talented players or those that have discipline or other personal issues. Neither are good attributes for eventually making it to the NFL.

Iowa's attrition vs other major programs?

Grow up. If you classify laziness based on plugging a search word into the forum before you post, you have some real issues. I asked a question and received several answers from posters. If you have a problem with it, then butt out.

Diauntae Morrow had a productive season with Toledo too

    Other than Bennie Sapp...

Not many good enough to be NFL caliber players. James Cleveland and Jewel had solid college careers after Iowa but neither will play significant minutes in the NFL. James Townsend played on a team that had Kenny Britt, Brian Leonard and Ray Rice and rarely saw the ball. Ryan Bain never got...

Iowa's attrition vs other major programs?

First of all I'm not Clark. Secondly, I'm not glued to this board 24/7 (don't have 3K posts in a little over a year). I'm not going to spend time digging through previous pages to see if my question has already been answered. It was a reasonable question, and if you have a problem with it...

Iowa's attrition vs other major programs?

Since I don't follow programs other than Iowa, it would be interesting if someone could research the stats showing our attrition rate for scholarship players vs. the rest of the conference or major programs. I'm curious if what we have experienced is way out of line with the rest of the country.

    Derby transfers to where?

Guess he doesn't want to play on Sundays. He's not built to play QB at the next level.

    Iowa vs. Penn State predictions

I'm a little worried about DSJ even if he is back in the lineup. Last year he had some conditioning problems early in the year and struggled in a few matches. I'm not sure if he'll be 100% for this match against a solid opponent.

    Jaleel Tweet

Won't be much longer until he has the talk about shutting down his twitter account during football season.
