Connor McCaffery Receives One of Open Scholarships

I watched every game from start to finish, I'm starting to wonder how much you watched or how much you actually follow recruiting or even basketball for that matter?

And I will stand firm in providing facts, while they stand on their opinion based posts that have no facts to back them up.

So you want to take a scholly from the '19 class to get a JUCO guard, who may or may not be better than what we already have?

Connor McCaffery Receives One of Open Scholarships

I do think Joe or even moving Isaiah to the 3, or even Dailey starting at the 3 would be a step up. Nunge should be playing the 4 for sure. Uthoff only played the 3 when White was around which happened to be until he was a senior unfortunately. I would just like Fran to go after him so PM can...

Connor McCaffery Receives One of Open Scholarships

In 21 seasons of coaching he has won 58% of his total games. Not low expectations, just patient and don't jump ship at the site of one bad season.

I'm honestly speechless at this post. Do you know the percentage of success rate from grad transfers? The good grad transfers don't come to Iowa and the other ones, like Mike Alstork from Illinois, go to places like Illinois and are close to invisible. If this grad transfer would put everyone on...

I have been saying if Fran could get a true SF that would be a big help. As of yesterday a guy he recruited decommited from Washington I would love if he went after. https://247sports.com/player/ed-chang-87231 But I think banking it is also not a terrible decision either. CM deserves the...

Oh this is definitely not news to me. @RobHowe how many reported tweets would it take to get these guys suspended or something? Lol.

Where are you finding this PT at the 1 and 2? CM, JB, IM, CW, CJF, MD all play the 1 and 2. The 3 is the biggest void, but I don't mind not getting anyone there because it requires Fran to play a more guard dominated lineup which is what the basketball world is shifting too anyway.

No doubt about that, but there was a game in Minnesota that should've been a win if the refs grant a timeout in regulation. Would've up'ed RPI because Minnesota was a good team that year. Nebraska went to like 3 OT's and if I remember right had a rob job from the refs that game as well. that...

Connor McCaffery Receives One of Open Scholarships

Obviously I have no facts, but my guess is if we ran a poll of all the players that have played for Fran at Iowa whether they ever felt like they would be physically harmed by him the poll would end with a lot of no's and very few yes'.

It is also very funny how Fran sticking up for his players was never an issue before the last season or two. I agree, for example, the Wisconsin game was definitely over the top and there are instances where he has to keep it under control. To say he's not a classy is a little extreme to me. The...

Connor McCaffery Receives One of Open Scholarships

I think there's a lot of neigh-sayers out here that think they're D-1 coaches and think Iowa's basketball program has always been this almighty program. Fran McCaffery has had two losing seasons and those two season are the only seasons he has had under 18 wins. I understand NCAA tournaments are...

Connor's release point is at his forehead, and that's not a bad release point for a 6'5 PG. He's gonna have 2-3 inches on anyone that guards him. Not to mention the release point being the forehead isn't uncommon, it's when it gets lower than that. CM's biggest thing for me is the mid range...

Connor McCaffery Receives One of Open Scholarships

I do agree with that. PM shoots from a lower point, that's easily fixable, but as long as he's making them (he didn't in HS last season very often) then i don't care how it goes in. CM's shooting fundamentals are actually pretty good, it is a set shot and not necessarily a jump shot like like...

Seriously asking, what about CM's shooting mechanics is fundamentally "off" in your mind?

Next year: our best shooting team in a while?

I surprisingly agree with you here. I do think that Connor being Fran's kid helped, but I also see it as CW didn't develop that PG that Fran thought he would when he brought him in. CW was looking at sharing minutes with 2 other PG's and 2 other SG's. He saw the writing on the wall, whereas...

Next year: our best shooting team in a while?

Or he was a more natural PG than CW, as you've pointed out plenty of times before. He was a 4*, top 100 recruit. 6'5, good passer who takes care of the ball. Has potential to be able to shoot it (shot, in a small sample, 50% from 3), understands the game really well with a high basketball IQ...
