Gronowski Heisman candidate?

I did read that same article. Total speculation considering the league he played in. Of course, Hawkeye fans are hoping everything pans out. The Michigan QB we got was a bust and many had great hopes for him also.

We will see and all you can do is hope. Hopefully all cylinders are running like a well-maintained engine. That would be fun to watch.

I'd love to see great things from Gronowski, but I'm sorry that I just couldn't put "Heisman contender" and "Iowa QB" in the same article, let alone sentence.

Yes, the only mention should be past Iowa QB's that were once Heisman contenders. Brad Banks, Chuck Long, etc.

Would have to see it to believe it. For that to happen not only would he have to play phenomenal football. But Iowa would have to win most of their games. 2 losses tops. So here's to hoping that's on the table. I just have a tough time seeing it yet. If he gets off to a hot start and we smoke ISU I'll get on that bus.

Injuries were the decisive factor in McNamara's poor performance at Iowa. That and a shitty OC. I thought Toni Moeki was the most naturally gifted TE that has come through Iowa, and that is saying something. But, he could not stay on the field. Injury bug cancels out a lot of talent.

If Gronkowski can stay healthy, he is going to have a very good year. Yes, the talent is better at this level than what he played against, but so is the talent around him. While Heisman candidate might be a bit too high an expectation, his skills should translate to this level.

I'm most excited about the potential offense that will allow a quarterback with his capabilities to shine and utilize his skillset. While having Heisman hype is nice, I would rather see wins versus personal accolades. I think Gronowski can be that guy.

Believe me after 56 years of watching or listening on WHO radio I understand. Kiss and hug those radios........ as Jimmy Z used to say. I would even listen to the rebroadcast on WHO radio late into the night. Good times for sure.

One concern is that he likes to run the ball a lot. Might not want to push his luck after having come back from an injury.

Yeah, that damn chalk line jumped up and leveled McNamara's causing an injury during a practice. still shaking my head over that instance.

Jim Zabel was the best! The ultimate homer but as a Hawkeye fan, he was great! LOL.
