That's some heavy weights were are up against. It would be huge to get him over those teams. He would be closer to home if he went to Indiana. That could be a factor along with the money of course.Trey Thompson, '26 6'8" forward from Greenville, TN says on X that he got an offer from Iowa.
Also has offers from UConn and Indiana.
Kansas has their eye on him as well.
Hey, at least we're in the game...........
Yeah it's kinda that time of year. Coaches are out evaluating the sophs/jrs in HS now without a lot of recruiting news getting thrown out there. That'll change as we get into summer thoughThat's some heavy weights were are up against. It would be huge to get him over those teams. He would be closer to home if he went to Indiana. Thanks for the info. It's bee quiet out here.
The Odds of landing Trey have becomeI see he has picked up offers from Clemson and Villanova.
Are we in the game? Really? I mean, anyone can extend an offer. I guess that the kid felt good enough about an Iowa offer to post it means a little something, but I think these kids post every offer they get for the attention.Trey Thompson, '26 6'8" forward from Greenville, TN says on X that he got an offer from Iowa.

I don't necessarily think we get this kid but getting him to come visit is a really good sign. A sign that we have some recruiters who are good at selling what this program has to offer. Even if he goes to another program this is an indicator that this staff could reel in some bigger fish in the future.
To my understanding, the jump up in spending by Iowa relates more to the House settlement anticipating revenue sharing, as opposed to boosters quadrupling the NIL collective coffers. So, my guess is that most of this money is promised over time over the next year or so, and will be paid by the school subject to further legal challenges.I agree that it seems impossible we could reel this kid in. But I like that the staff is going for top talent, they aren't selling themselves short. My guess is we need some on court success this coming season then we have an even better story to tell the recruites.
I saw a post on X a week or two ago about how much teams were spending on NIL. Indiana and Devries has spent $10M and we were right behind them at $8M. My thought was where did we come up with that kind of money? But assuming that number is true, then we ought to be in contention for good talent going forward, especially if we are putting up the Ws.
