Iowa Wrestling Finishes 5th at NCAAs

This program is adrift
Not really any more than any other schools not named Penn State. There's them, and then it's a random draw for everyone else talent pool-wise.

What Sanderson has done at PSU has been astounding up till this point, but this goes beyond astounding now with NIL and the current state of folkstyle rules & his coaching styles. It leads to extremely boring "wrestling," but it wins matches and meets.

Penn State this year set a new record for season total bonus points, season total margin of victory, Big Ten tournament bonus points, Big Ten tournament margin of victory, NCAA tournament bonus points, and NCAA tournament margin of victory.

PSU's margin of victory in the NCAA tourney this year was 100 points. Cornell was 2nd place with 72.5. Think about that for a minute...PSU's mov was more than any other team scored total by a looooooong ways. The next 8 teams were separated by 12 points. At that point it's a random toss up and a fight for first loser.

This isn't a recruiting or coaching issue. It's a money and rules issue. Disclaimer: I'm not saying NIL rules should change. We are small potatoes now but that part is our own fault. Rules do need to change though. College wrestling has become a watered-down, boring riding time contest.

Maybe. Or crippled by the gambling fiasco and unreasonable expectations. Just a thought. Admittedly, not much of wrestling guy.
None of the guys booted for gambling would've made a difference to the outcome. Cassioppi would've gotten to the quarterfinals but he'd have been in the top half of the bracket and had to wrestle Schultz.

Kennedy is better than Brands at 74.

Dan Gable won 21 B1G titles and 15 national championships. Sanderson is going to make that look like amateur hour. It's just a fight for 2nd place now.
