I'm 100% convinced they change the the officiating in the tournement, just like they would in NHL playoffs in the 90s and part of the 2000s.
The NHL pushed for years to let the skill players do their thing an show off the beauty of hockey. Buy when they finally get eyeballs of non puckheads during the playoffs, they let the goons loose and permitted all sorts of stick grabbing, clutching, and general grabbyness. Cause they wanted to entertain the mouth breathers.
