NCAA rules say every player has five years to play four. So yes, it's still available. He's technically a true senior this year because he played two in JUCO and one and Iowa so if the injury is bad enough he would red shirt and then get all of next season.

Originally he was a 4* kid. Not sure why he dropped. Either way Shimonek seems the odd man out. Assuming Rudock starts the next two years and no transfers in 2016 Beathard will be a senior, Shimonek will be a junior, Wiegers will be a soph, and the current recruits will be freshmen.

The only thing it hurts is emergency depth in case Rudock and Beathard go down. Otherwise no big deal really.
