Windsor, I like your optimism, but the problem will be a lack of a PG. Clemmons is better than any of the PG's next year (given age), and the offense hardly runs when he is in. I don't see Iowa making the tournament next year.

As many have said, why people rip Gesell is mind boggling. I don't want to jump ahead, but those who are critical of him will realize how valuable he is when next season starts.

InGoodCo - Good post, thanks for the info. I was not able to watch the game but from everything I've read, I think Gesell will be this teams 2nd best player. Also think that Fleming will be able to contribute the most out of the freshman this year. Sounds like Wagner could end up playing a role.

The B1G is extremely deep, and some talented teams at the top in Maryland, Indiana (thankfully Crean can't coach) and Michigan State. Other teams that will make the tournament are Michigan, Purdue and Wisconsin. I think Iowa is slightly underrated, but I don't expect a top 3 finish either.

BigD, you may be right that Moss ends up being "the guy" out of this recruiting class. Playing for Simeon is as good as it gets. If I had to make a prediction for the freshman with the most impact this year, it would be Flemming. He has also played big time high school hoops and can contribute...

I'm with you BigD, wish there was more over here. To be fair, we don't have much to go off of yet. After the first scrimmage I think some of the basketball regulars will be back. The most intriguing thing for me is which freshman will be in the rotation.

For Fran to run his system the way he wants, you need at minimum 8 guys. If there are only 6 or 7 capable players Iowa will not press or push the ball as much as Fran would like.

I'm with everyone else, I don't see how Iowa is favored (and opened -3). I guess that tells you what vegas thinks of Northwestern. They were 10+ point dogs to Michigan which surprised some people.
