I could go into this with alot of examples. But honestly you would get bored. One time our crew called over 10 3 second violations and gave out about 2-3 total "hey clear 15" warnings to different players. Coach asked why we didnt warn them. I asked why he didnt coach them to get out at 3. He...

I dont spend my time on message boards complaining about refereeing at a basketball game or who Iowa should or should not start at QB. The fact that you took the time to look a that up tells me you might still live at home. You stated about being a "hack" official about coaching kids. Talking...

I completely agree. Its not my job to coach. Its my job to have the game run with some flow. If we dont help Jr. High, high school and college kids along then we will stop the game alot for stuff that can be helped. In college games its brief and there isnt alot, but we dont talk. Just not as...

I gave you the reason why I dont call it. But I guess what I failed to mention that Im talking to people in the lane all the time. "Get out 15". Im always talking. Im sure they are also we just dont hear it. From a referees perspective. If Im calling 3 seconds in the lane Im not doing my job...

While I get what your saying, you are asking someone (referee) to "know what you" mean when people yell "over the back". While refereeing I figured out quickly that terminology is everything. When I explain to a coach why a foul was called I cant use the terms "over the back" or he/she "reached"...

Refereeing is hard. Its a persons opinion and not everything is seen. I suggest you try and referee before slamming officials. I can think I can weld, but until I actually tried it I realized how hard it was. So I keep my opinions to myself.

A couple reasons. You have 3ish seconds in the lane. Player leaving the lane without getting the ball and I count to 3, ehhhh I let it go. He goes and sets a screen to get another player open in the lane, Im calling it. Every time a player shoots the ball regardless if the ball hits the rim, it...

Nope. Just a referee. Over the back is a stupid phrase that high school and below parents use. Be better. Find a rule book. Pushes happened a lot on both ends and the referees let almost all of it go. But, yes. As a Hawkeye fan, I thought Purdue pushed us a lot from behind. It drove me crazy

A rebounder can't use his body to create an advantage against an opposing player in front of him. Don't listen to commentators because they dumb it down and way back in the 80's referees used to report it this way. If any referee reports it as "over the back" then they shouldn't be refereeing...

"over the back no calls in the BTT" You want to punish a kid for being 7'4"? There is no such call for being taller and grabbing the rebound from behind. Although he was pushed from behind a couple different times for rebounds. But I saw that no call on both ends.
