When Groce switched to a zone in the 2nd half it really seemed as though Iowa labored with it. Illinois wasn't playing for much of anything tonight. Not as much as the Hawks anyway. Yet, Groce got more out of his guys than Fran managed to. Take from it what you will.

Well, UCLA fans won't be happy to know that Alford just lost a very important pg recruit to Illinois. Kid was said to be leaning toward UCLA until he met with John Groce. Not many coaches are going to lose a personality battle against Alford.

Did you guys see Steve Lavin say that he has sources that say Shaka Smart is the next Illinois coach? Wow, give him a couple of years with the kind of talent that Illinois brings in and thats going to make things even tougher in the B1G.

Have you seen the guys being mentioned for the Illinois job? Shaka Smart, Anthony Grant, Lorenzo Romar, Reggie Theus, etc. Not sure Fran would make that list for an interview Herby. What was your 2nd worst nightmare? That's now your 1st.
