Day two of the Big Ten Media Days event allows reporters a chance to sit down at a table with players and coaches. There roughly ten chairs around each table, and the player or coach sits at the same spot for two hours.
This year, HawkeyeNation.com's Jon Miller stayed at Ferentz's table for the entire two-hour session, and the stories linked below are the result of that session. This was not a one on one session, but we were able to ask a lot of the questions during this session and we hope you enjoy seeing a frank and relaxed side of Kirk Ferentz as you read all of these items below, 12,332 words all told and all of it free for all site visitors.
On Friday August 5th, we'll be able to focus solely on the Iowa players and assistant coaches during Iowa's football media day, as I think we have covered all of the ground with Ferentz there is to cover.
Ferentz on Frosh, Quarterback and Running Back Positions: We share Kirk Ferentz's comments on this year's expectations at quarterback and running back, with some comments on some incoming freshmen too.
Ferentz on Recruiting: Ferentz talks about how many scholarships he plans to fill in this class, his thoughts on how recruiting is going so far, positions of focus and more
Ferentz on Fry & Social Media: Ferentz talks about twitter, skype and social media, he shares some funny Hayden Fry stories and talks about Norm Parker's health
Ferentz Talks Defensive Schemes: Ferentz talks about his defensive backfield prospects for 2011 and shares some scheme thoughts, why Iowa thought Mike Daniels could be successful and a Nebraska media member seeking his autograph
Ferentz on Game Management: Ferentz talks about end of game management, what goes into a win or a loss and the challenges of being in the Big Ten
Ferentz Shares Concerns for the Sport: Ferentz gives his thoughts on the 7 on 7 craze, unsavory characters in recruiting, the role that mentors play in recruiting and more in this frank Q&A.
Ferentz on the Hawkeye Family: Ferentz talks about the family atmosphere and loyalty that surrounds his football program, and the player's commitment to one another.
Ferentz on Recruiting Regions, McNutt & Taunting Rules: Ferentz talks about recruiting regions, Marvin McNutt and the new taunting rules in college football
