Some website is making fun of Ed's accident

are we posting on a message board or emailing the jim rome show?

That would never make it to live air. That's a D+ to C- attempt at best.

You know how I can pick out unintelligent people when talking sports with them fairly quickly, anytime I hear the phrase, "The B12 is going to explode in a couple years, you just watch".

It shows a severe lack of logic and reasoning capabilities.

I dont think that will be necessary, the big 12 isn't gong anywhere.

you better hope so as that is all you have. boy genius can probably weasel you into the Valley or into the Great West conference - probably the reason he has so many games with UNI, South/North Dakota on the schedule.

the big east has openly showed interest in an ISU, KSU, KU, MIZ package deal (or at least the did during all the conference realignment talk).

but that's neither here nor there. superconferences aren't going to happen because people dont want to split the pie that many ways, and Notre Dame isnt exactly making a strong case for the upside of being independant

neither of these guys are in the program, nor have they been for 4+ years.

by the sound of all these comments, I can only assume it was an ISU site that said something classless and ignorant about podolak?

No charge for the correction.

Which is still tougher than playing Indiana, Minnesota, Purdue, Northwestern, etc.

But seriously, every team schedules at least one cupcake, including your beloved Hawks.

because hawk fans have never said classless and ignorant things about ISU?

seriously, if this is the worst type of thing we have going on between Iowa and ISU, then our rivalry is a pretty decent one IMO. at least we aren't poisoning one another's trees!

ball state was very strong this year, as was eastern Illinois

My point is not the B12 will implode (sic) in a few years (although that may very well happen). My point is your prescious B12 is only viable with Texas in it, and Texas has a track record of being loyal only to money.

Don't get me wrong, some members of the B12 will be fine if it disolves. There is always going to be a place for the football program of Oklahoma, or the basketball program of Kansas, but lets be real here you aren't Oklahoma or Kansas.

This is cute, but ultimately unthought out and generally dumb. I don't mean to be a *****, but honestly do a little research, maybe some of that critical thinking and get back to me. I'm not going to waste my time explaining the ins and outs to someone that will most likely reject it due to their homerism and short sightedness.

None. The disolution of the B12 and ISU's subsequent deeper fall into obscurity would be terrible for the state of Iowa as a whole and for the University of Iowa. That doesn't change the fact everything I said is true.

Koeppel got up and walked away with a few scratches and bruises.

Podolak is laying in a hospital bed with multiple broken bones...he was in "serious condition" following the accident. And he's likely facing some painful and difficult rehab at 60+ years old.

If that's "OK"...I hope you're "OK" sometime very soon.

Your attempt to equate the two demonstrates that you're more of an idiot than even the typical clone. And that's quite a statement.

have you actually looked at what is being discussed in this thread? it's a cartoon, is clearly not serious, and has "All kidding aside, we seriously hope that Ed makes a quick recovery" at the end.

there were plenty of people joking about the koeppel video. correct me if I'm wrong, but didn;t BHGP have a little fun with it?

You can't be serious. Below tasteless.

That's a true story. That creightonclone guy made a remark to a Hawk fan: go take driving lessons from Chris Street.

That comment didn't last long, the mods took it down as soon as they saw it.

Like I said, I'm not going to bother. Now you may be an intelligent guy, but your typed word screams otherwise, at least on this topic. I just don't think you've put any thought into it, at all.

Maybe I missed the part where Koeppel was laying in a hospital in serious condition with multiple broken bones. Two very different situations.

What's next? Is Jamie Pollard's kid fair game? (makes your stomach turn doesn't it? Now take that feeling and think about the Podolak's condition as if you were one of his family)

A guy was almost killed for god sakes. Do you not recognize that?

i do recognize that. All I'm saying is take it for what it is, a joke in poor taste.

maybe some of you that are already drafting slander lawsuits against "the media" for their skepticism of barta/ferentz's constant BS and company lines can sue WRNL now too?

With 2 broken legs at 60+ years old, he's likely facing a permanent handicap, to some degree. You'll have to forgive me if I don't see the potential humor there. I'm sure it's a real knee-slapper.

Sure I'll think this out, feel free to point out where things went wrong.

Texas: Texas loves Texas. It's in the B12 because the current deal the B12 has allows them to keep the lions share of revenue as well as all the revenue from their new Texass network. This relationship will be fine unless the B12 decides to stand up and demand a better revenue sharing model or someone like the SEC offers them a bagillion dollars a year in shared revenues from a wildly sucessful SEC Network.

B12: Is flat out dead in the water without Texas. They can't replace Texas with any other school and they can't survive going back to the Big8 model especially given the fact Nebraska already bolted for the B10. This doesn't even consider the fact that it's highly unlikely Texas leaves alone. It's almost a certainy that when Texas goes it's going to take other big name programs with them. Some of these programs are in the same state as Texas, others rhyme with Pokelahoma.

ISU: You suck hind tit in terms of media exposure within the state of Iowa which in it's own right is down right tiny in terms of media markets. You have an awful football program, a medicore (at best) basketball program, and have little to no national following or tradition. On your own merit you have absolutely nothing to bring to the table to any other athletic conference. Also don't underestimate the impact the policy that requires you to be financially self sufficient has on the situation. Your biggest money maker atheltically has been your football program. Traditionally you've been able to sell tickets in part due to the fact teams like Oklahoma, Texas, and Nebraska came your way. However it's hard to ignore that years which your schedule doesn't feature big name opponents (like 2009) your attendance lags. I just don't see a bunch of people willing to spend their money to see you host Cincinati in football even if you are fortunate enough to get an invite into the Big East.
