Will Pitt try to hire Kirk?

yes, and I'd like Gary Kubiak to be our next offensive Co. but it ain't gonna happen

they might want him but they can't pay what we can. it would be a step down for multiple reasons.

They would like to, but ferentz has tied himself down in Iowa. Would you want to go to a place that fired someone that had a winning record? Ferentz wants a NT, and whether you like to think it or not, he is closer here than Pitt will be.

I'm not sure I would say that. Both teams 7-5, they beat us 2 years ago, they play in a very bad Big East so it is easier to run the table, and they can recruit. They have some very good prospects and players. Not sure Iowa is any closer. Especially after what we lose after this season.

This is debatable and IMO it would actually be easier at Pitt. Big East is horrible. It is arguably easier to recruit at Pitt as well.

Not correct; the big ten championship will produce a national champion participant with more regularity, even if said team gas one loss. Big Ten Champion > SEC Champion from 2011 and going forward with the addition of Nebraska

Against Ohio State at Penn State, to a city school? People in Pittsburgh don't care about the Panthers.

Not going to argue that, but it is easier to go undefeated in the Big East than lose 1 in the B10 right now IMO.

"People in Pittsburgh don't care..........". A good arugment for KF to not go to Pitt, IMHO.

He's from there, so the pull of home would probably mean a great deal to him. But...Pitt isn't going to be paying their next coach 3.5 million a year, either.

That I don't think it's easier to recruit to Pittsburgh. Nobody in that town cares, and player worth a **** is going to look at Ohio State and Penn State before they look at Pitt.

Usually Pitt has good recruiting classes. Currently They are ranked in the top 20 according to scout.com. Ahead 15 spots of Iowa. They seem to do pretty well in the recruiting area IMO.

not sure I understand what you are saying.

city school < state school. Pretty much sums it up. TCU is the new top dog, alongside Uconn and now S.Florida with skip holtz at the helm. Things will get tougher in the big east going forward.

You don't actually believe that do you? After four straight (soon to be five?) BCS national championships for the SEC the Big Ten has a long way to go to ever have a higher national sentiment/perception than the SEC.

If Kirk's leaving Iowa to coach somebody else, it'll be to Penn State to coach the Fightin' JoePas.
