RIP Eddie Van Halen

You worshiped EVH < 10? Dude... that explains a few things. I followed Gumby, Dr Max, Big Bird and Capn Kangaroo. Oh ya and Mr Rogers at that age.
Mr. Rogers was a saint. Gumby and Capn Kangaroo also explains a lot of things.

All things aside, we can agree to honor Eddie’s memory, eh?

I used to run home from school to watch Felix The Cat at 3:30 and Dr. Max at 4.

I was crushed when they were pre-empted or cancelled by coverage of this thing called Watergate.

I commented on Eddie in the Music Thread so I'm not going to repeat it here. But suffice to say Van Halen was one of the top two bands of my high school years, along with AC/DC, and this brought back a lot of memories.

Who will be the next to go? My money's on Ozzy.

Forgot about Felix. Was devastated when Valerie married Eddie. Envisioned her way above him.

Eddie Van Halen epitomized the pure spirit, joy, and exuberance of Rock and Roll

He will always be remembered for this song

I would sell my soul for his tiger-striped jacket

In the entertainment industry? No idea. But anyone in DC with covid right now is in my dead pool.

Eddie was an absolute guitar playing pioneer who changed the way it is done and influenced millions of wanna be axe shredders for decades.

Stevie Ray Vaughan has been my favorite for quite some time, but Eddie is right up there with him. They were both masters of their instruments that very few could successfully imitate. As a middle aged man, I still try to imitate them both (and others) with my air guitar, but I don't think I come close.

RIP, Eddie, and sincere condolences to all of his family, friends, and fans.

yeah...bummer. David Lee Roth was a little too much for me...with the spandex, etc...but Eddie was a pioneer. Dude was amazing and he worked with alot of other musicians too. RIP Eddie.

One of my favorite song intros of all time. Didn't realize it was "Eruption" - was before my time.

God damn it, when will these shitty musicians stop sampling all the good music? That song belongs to the Kinks. That and Lola are my two favorite Kinks songs.

Hah bro that shit is waaay to old for me. I dabble in a little 70's stuff but mostly 80s and newer. I understand this was very influential though. I'm the same way with movies too, earliest I'll go back and watch is around '76.

I'm sure I'm one of the few that prefers the Sound of Silence by David Draiman over Simon and Garfunkel. Prefer Hurt by Johnny Cash over NiN etc

The Kinks were a very underrated band. Van Halen stole a lot more than that song from them, and they weren't the only ones either. Led Zeppelin and The Who stole loads from The Kinks.

Sounds of Silence was an average song by Simon and Garfunkel standards and not too difficult to top in a remake.

Johnny Cash is arguably the greatest individual recording artist of all time. He did Hurt, and Soundgarden's Rusty Cage, on his death bed and nailed them both.

Saw Disturbed four times in the early 2000s during my testosterone years and still like to listen to them, but their cover of SOS is the worst thing to be broadcast via radio waves since KISS recorded Beth.
