Sick! TCU blows out opponent

TCU won their NIT game and will go to MSG. They won by like, 20 points. Not unexpected. But, just made me sick. If Iowa sneaks out an OT win they head to New York and could likely play for the whole enchilada. Damn.

I'm pulling for Illinois, always liked Malcolm Hill and he's a senior and it'd be kind of cool to see the interim coach go 5-0 with an NIT championship even though he didn't get the permanent job. If not them, then hope TCU wins it.

Knew the winner of the Iowa - TCU game would get their ticket punched for the Garden. Too bad, I was still more interested watching Iowa in the NIT than any NCAA game.

I see it more as 1 of 2 teams that will end the season with a win. (1 of 4 if you include the CIT and CBI) - the glass being half full.

Don't forget Cornell LOL! Only four teams makes the Ivy League Tournament, so they won their last regular season game but missed the tourney.

The NIT means very little. They are glorified exhibition games.

Iowa's 5th place finish in the Big Ten (tied) meant a lot more, including 3 wins against Sweet 16 teams..
I agree with your 2nd comment but definitely not the 1st. Any post season games are important for a young team. And over 15,000 people attended the Iowa vs. TCU game so it seems to me the NIT meant something to most people...you being the exception of course.

70th best team?

Where do you realistically think the NIT champion should be ranked most years? They are probably better than most automatic qualifiers outside of the major conferences. There is probably a decent chance they were better than a handful of bubble teams that got in. Maybe 35-40? Nothing to write home about, but a pretty good consolation prize if you don't make the Tournament.

In 2013, Kenpom had Baylor 28 and Iowa 29 at the end of the year. Now beating Maryland at MSG and Virginia on the road probably helped a lot. The next three years we were 22, 23, 22, so the difference is minimal some years. This year we were 70 by comparison, TCU is 38, UCF 64, Georgia Tech is 77, UC-Bakersfield 84 so when they said the bubble was weak this year, they weren't lying.

Hawks were one less TO, which resulted in a frog score, and one made free throw away from winning that game. Despite all the turnovers and missed free throws which sealed our fate.....
