Steve Sipple outraged at losing to "ordinary" Iowa

So Iowa's best recruiting class over the past five years was ranked 42nd nationally by Rivals, and Nebraska's worst recruiting class was ranked 32nd?

Nebraska delusion in it's finest hour. Nebraska has exactly one win against a good team in two years. They beat MSU in a fluke last year. Other than that, they are like 0-8 against good teams. When your best win is a win over a 7-5 Minnesota team AT HOME...well, your program ain't where you think it is. They did learn to win the close ones against mediocre teams though this year. Congrats Huskers!

After all they did come from the little 12 where we all know delusion runs rampant.

Fusker nation is just sad. They need to take a ride on the hot tub time machine back to the 90s when they were relevant. Since the rules changed with scholarships and walk on programs, Iowa has had the better football program. Even recruits from NE have noticed. They don't win em all vs the Hawks anymore.

Funny the Iowa press really gives KF a free pass mostly and this guy is over the top.

That said, he should have seen it coming. Biggest win at home against MN. Sort of like Michiganders should have seen what happened in IC coming. 3 - 62 is crazy bad.

That said, I think M, OSU, and PSU are vastly over rated. If I were coaching either of those three I wouldn't want to play Iowa right now home...or away. I think you could rate Iowa OSU and M tossups and PSU 4th.

KF....you drive me nuts.

Perusing the Husker boards makes for some incredible comedy. Check it out sometime if you haven't.

It's so apparent that they're running scared shitless. And by "running scared shitless" I mean much more talk that the Huskers should return to the Little 12. And by "return" I mean leave the B1G, which is clearly a far superior conference in which they know and understand they can't compete, to "return" to a weak conference they feel they can dominate (hell, they would probably even struggle with Little Brother).

So that's number 1: not so easy in the B1G as they thought it would be, and now the grass ain't starting to look so green on this side as it did half a decade ago.

Number 2 is, as everyone knows, their inability to let go of the past. "Iowa may have 1 but u tel me wen they have FOUR championships!!" Their inability to realize that (1) no one cares and more importantly (2) recruits don't care about championships from the Stone Age is truly puzzling. Fondness and nostalgia for a different era is one thing, but their obsession with the past is restraining-order scary.

Much better article about the realities that Nebraska faces. That fan base is so far deluded, they need a slap of reality.

This also shows how much respect most of the media have for Iowa and the way it plays physical football. Some times we as fans have to step back and realize that we aren't Ohio State, Michigan or Alabama. Other teams would love to be Iowa.

Yes the Shatel article is slightly better but I've read three pieces (yes there are at least three different pieces about the Husker loss this weekend in the Omaha World Herald) and they all strike the same tone.

No respect for Iowa and a continued sense of entitlement. Its their fault they lost, not to our credit that we won. Never mind that we just beat Michigan. They'll go out of their way now to talk about how crappy their team is to avoid giving Iowa any credit. And god forbid you call it a rivalry. We're not worthy.

It manifests in subtle and not so subtle ways. The lack of respect can be snide references to Iowa's rank in the B1G. Unnecessary and irrelevant references to our recruiting rankings* etc. The entitlement manifests in the disbelief and denial. "I can't believe we lost to Iowa." Why not? Its happened 3 times in the past four years. Maybe the first step is not all the bullcrap in these opinion pieces but acknowledging that you are approximately on par with Iowa. Since 2000 you've won on average 0.5 more games than Iowa each season. That's it. You're a half game "better" than us. So STFU already!

I live in Omaha and have been telling my coworkers exactly the same things in that Shatel article for four years. They haven't listened to me. I'd be stunned if they listened now even if it comes from one of their own.

*This one I've seen before and it always cracks me up. We don't line up paper sheets of recruits, we line up players that have been coached by our respective staff. If not we'd just declare the team with the #1 recruiting ranking NC each year after signing day.
