Phil Steel Bowl Projection: Jacksonville vs Ole Miss

I like our chances. They just aren't the same since their star wide receiver went down against Auburn. Plus they run a pro style scheme that matches up to our strong defense. I think Vegas will have us as four point dogs, but sure to cover.

Ole Miss run a pro style scheme? Ya this prolly the dumbest post of the year. They still have Core, Sanders, and Engram to throw to. Bo would have a field day on Lowdermilk & Co. King is the only one who could keep up. Not to mention, Walton would be 50 yards down the field before the ball is even snapped with our LBs. Ole Miss is a terrible match up for Iowa. Way too much speed mixed with power. Ole Miss is 1 dumb play and an inch from the sec championship and playoff. Bo's pick at the end of LSU when they shoulda kicked a field goal and Treadwells fumble on the inch line vs Auburn.

This is a blow out waiting to happen but I feel this way about many teams we might match up against because we are a total fraud. I want no part of the PAC-12 either with their speed.

Bottom line is we lost all meaningful games even with great effort in 2 of the 4. We are the ONLY Power 5 victory for ISU who will finish 2-10 and we lost that at home.

BLOW OUT CITY coming

Re: Phil Steele Bowl Projection: Jacksonville vs Ole Miss

You didn't watch the games from Madison or Columbus, did ya? Yes, they had pockets open... Shocked me yes.

That said, iowa won't travel as well as they typically do. Probably more than your 5k prediction, but a far cry from the 20k that had become more common than not

I've gone to most bowl games, and this year's bowl fan travel will compare with the 1997 Sun Bowl.
There may have been 5,000 Iowa fans, at best, in El Paso. At the 1995 Sun Bowl, it was easily 15,000 Iowa fans.
What was eerie is that Steve Deace compared this past Iowa season to that 1997 season.

If tickets for Wisconsin were $10/each on game day, on a game that still could have been the first step to winning the Big Ten West, than apathy has set in, and winter travel will be other places, besides the bowl destination.

Iowa vs. Ole Miss in Jacksonville... Uh huh. I live in Tampa, but don't think I'll be making the trek to see this one. I'll watch the first quarter on TV while it's still a game and take it from there, but I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars in tickets, gas, hotel, etc. to drive up there and spend the night, just to watch a bloodbath.

Wisconsin.... what a waste of a bowl. Wiscy needs to be in Jax playing old miss.

Here is how Palm lines up the Big Ten. Cotton: Ohio State vs. Arizona

Peach: Michigan State vs. TCU
Fiesta: Wisconsin vs. Boise State
Citrus: Minnesota vs. Missouri
Outback: Maryland vs. Georgia
TaxSlayer: Iowa vs. Ole Miss
Foster Farms: Rutgers vs. USC
Holiday: Nebraska vs. UCLA
Pinstripe: Penn State vs. Duke
Heart of Dallas: Illinois vs. Marshall -

Brutal. Just brutal. Why do I feel like the B1G is being served up as red meat to be consumed by better programs over the holidays?

I would love to see a repeat of the 2008 season bowl games, where Iowa is the only team to win their bowl game. They do have a chance of playing South Carolina again.
