Great throw by CJ and catch by KMM for the TD

Thanks for posting..you know, it just didn't look like a TD from where I sat.....I guess he kept that back foot down long enough...like Mcnutt's catch at Arizona.

Buddies and I were talking about that at the bar. His left foot was in when he first touched the ball. As long as he possess the ball all the way through the catch from that point on, he is in. If the ball shifts or moves even the slightest, then it isn't a catch. Good call by the replay booth.

1) The KMM TD was a beautiful back shoulder throw. More of that please.

2) Parker with tremendous shiftiness/explosiveness/speed. IMO, he's the only one that can make that play there. Better than Canzeri, in that respect.

3) Nate Meier shows why he's in on the majority of the reps. Very quick on that stunt!

4) I wish Powell could do more things offensively (ie blocking/shorter and intermediate routes) so we could get moar deep balls to him!!!

ALSO... Thx for posting Deanvogs.

1. who is the WR who makes the block along the sideline that takes out two guys that made for the really big Parker run?

2. Dean - can you show the final INT?

I would add that the throws to KMM and Powell were both across the has marks. I'm not sure what the distance is between the hashes, but you have to add that distance onto the throw CJ is making, particularly on the pass to Powell. CJ released that throw at the Iowa 40 and Powell caught it on the PU 8. That 52 yards in linear distance; then add on the distance from the left hash mark to the right sideline.

It was close but he had his foot down and in with the ball in his possession.....

If the replay was run in slomo, it would have been more obvious.....

All in all it was an excellent throw and catch, and attests to CJ's expertise and also KMM's outstanding ability. He should get many more throws tossed his way every game..

It's easier for the replay official to see it because each camera's feed is tagged w/ a synchronized SMPTE time code stream which reads out hour:minute:second:frame. The official can cue the feed that shows the hands and ball and stop it at the moment of control/possession and then cue the reverse angle shot that shows the feet at the moment they go out of bounds and compare the stamps. If the ball control time stamp is before the out of bounds time stamp then the player had possession of the ball in bounds.

There was a pix, linked on BHGP, after the Insight bowl of Gabbert's incomplete pass, w/ the SMPTE stamp, that showed the nose of the ball on the ground and another w/ the same time stamp from the other side that showed the player's body was still in the air. It helped smooth over hard feeling w/ some friends of mine from COMO.

Wish this sort of thing was available to fans more often.
