Does it seem like we don't hear/talk about Doyle's influence on the Iowa football program as much as we used to? During the beginning of the Ferentz era we marveled at the physical transformation many of the Iowa players experienced because of the Iowa strength and conditioning program. However, in recent years I hardly ever hear about him and his impact on the development of Iowa players. Is this because of the rhabdo-mess or do we just take him for granted?

I think high school athletes are coming in already having participated in some type of strength and agility training and that might play a small part in the fact not as much changing is happening cuz some of it occurs prior to arriving on campus.

At one point Iowa had a strength program unrivaled by competitors and a top of the line facility you couldn't find anywhere else. Other schools have caught up.

That and our athletes haven't looked anywhere near as good since the rhabdo incident. Makes me wonder if Doyle dialed things down.

Okay everyone finish your 700 pushups so we can start the 50 mile run- said Ooth the greatest strength coach ever.

lol, you're an idiot if you believe that.

I'm not the one typing "lol" like a 14 year old girl. That aside, please share your documentation of Doyle's superiority to other people who hold similar positions at other schools.

Actually, lol would be the parent of a 14 year-old-girl. Cool kids gave up text writing 2 years ago.

The impact of Doyle has been overstated to say the least.

just the opposite, and i've heard many players say his factor is the factor of success, or the glue that bound everything together. one thing - since he is not a 'coach' he is the one coach that can have access to the players 365 days a year - that is not to be understated.

I think you are probably right but you have to admit it is a question that needs to be asked as we fail to be able to play four quarters of football in recent seasons and seem to lose the physicality battles against the upper echelon teams. For a period of time in this program that was not the case and some this is a direct result of strength and conditioning.
