Ballard walks away from the NFL

If i could talk to him i would tell him not to try and be everything to everyone. Maybe what he is searching for is what i always say and try to live by. Leave it better than you found it. That is the true test. Make sure people are better for knowing you. If it is broke fix it. If it needs cleaned then clean it and so on. Trust me it is a tough road. But worth it.

You say some of the dumbest darn things...Come on man!

Oh I do?

Sure, lets hope he "finds himself" while he walks away from football....an opportunity that very few people are afforded. Fine, he doesn't like the NFL. Step aside so the next kid in line can realize his dream and appreciate it.

Football is a short window in life for most people. I think he's an idiot for closing his window too soon. He will probably regret it some day.

That's my opinion. I'm entitled to it. I don't feel sorry for him.

At the same time, he's entitled to make his own decisions regardless of what people think. Good for him.

As I read the story, the domestic thing was mutual. Either way, it sounds like he's gained some perspective and wants to be a better person. Can't fault him for that.

If that's indeed the reason, nothing wrong with it. Some people never gain a reasonable perspective ... until it's too late. As others have said, best of luck to him.

Found it strange that he says the NFL just isn't for him, then later says, "I may go back to the NFL who knows?"

Saywut?

I thought I heard Dallas Clark purchased a lot of farmland in Iowa as well. I wonder if he was a part of the purchase you mention. From what I was told he bought a bunch of land and another former Hawkeye is farming it for him.
He maybe is include in that. I haven't heard anything about him though.

Very well said. As hard as it is to believe, money isn't everything to everyone! Maybe he was missing his family or felt like he was missing too much time with his son. Maybe the pressure was too much for him. Unless you've been there, you can't really judge. I hope he finds the path that makes him happy

oh come on. you can be honest here. jon doesn't hang out on the boards anymore.
Jon knows who I am, and I am posting with his blessing (I think). I'm on the DL, and trying to behave. I don't want to get sucked into old habits by instigating people who know and will trigger those habits. Also, I do not sell teh plasix.
