I have a good feeling about this season boys....

5.5 over/under isn't what they think is actually supposed to happen but merely to drive betting and Vegas knows that Iowa at 5.5 is going to drive betting. Iowa fans being optimistic and non-Iowa fans look at last season and the coaching changes and probably see at a lock for the under especially with this schedule. I don't like to gamble but I think 5-6 wins is the most probable in IMO right now, just too many question marks for me to believe yet.

So they don't think Iowa will actually finish the season at 5.5 wins and 6.5 losses?

I get that Dave, now stop standing on the fence and make a prediction. ;)

I am sitting at 6 wins in the regular season, with a win in the bowl game to get to 7 total wins for 7-6 on the season. Like I said I think there are too many question marks but I don't see KF and staff letting this team struggle like they did last season. We are getting too close to football season for me to be too pessimistic anymore, anyway. If you would have asked me after the Nebraska game last Nov. I would have said 2-10, easily. I think NIU at home and ISU in Ames will tell alot of how this season will go. That being said, I am "hoping" for your prediction to come true.

QB play can't be worse, as that was one of the worst seasons in CFB history for a QB. That is the largest question mark for me, and it has nowhere to go but up.

Gimme somma that kool-aid

I agree, Boat, as QB play can't get much worse. But for me O-line's health needs to hold up. DL play has to step up and cause disruption. New players at WR and DB have to step up big time as well.

With training camp opening up this weekend in the NFL and 6 weeks until Iowa takes the field I am glad to see football season here. Hawks will be ok, might have a little bit of a chip on their shoulder. Regardless, football season is the best and my gambling addiction towards it gets riled up this time of year. Time to order that red book with the football doctor on it:).

I like this thread. There has been too many posters passing off their feelings as fact and what will happen this year. Many people are saying the offense is going to be better like thats a fact(I too think it will be better). You might have a feeling that the offense will be better but we have seen nothing yet to show us that it will be better. We dont know who the Qb will be and we dont know what the gameplan will even be. Seems as though time has made many people posting these feeling facts and it makes Iowa fans look like the ISU fans that soo many of you love to mock.

I can tell you that tailgating in Iowa City will be awsome.....cuz thats a fact.....well pretty close to a fact.

The same could be said about those that claim this team will be horrible, as a fact.

Agreed on the 2nd part. It cannot be debated the Iowa City tailgate will be awesome. That is a fact, Jack!

Last year's QB play was completely head scratching. I know JVB wasn't a Heisman trophy candidate in 2011, but I never saw last year coming. Even with GD's play calling JVB still wasn't making any throws look easy. It was painful to watch. The QB play literally can't be worse this season, IMO.

I'm relatively optimistic for this season. I do believe the offense will be better (it couldn't be much worse), and I think we will see better play out of the d-line and linebackers. I'm confident in the defensive backs unless we continue to play Tanner Miller against all reason. We missed so many tackles last year that I have to imagine the defense has been working on tackling all offseason. I guess most of my optimism comes from the fact that we were so bad in all areas last season that I just don't see how we could be worse.

Literally in your opinion?

Its a fact that the Qb will be better in my opinion. No way possible it could be worse... the way I see it.

I have a feeling that we dont know who the QB is yet.

I've been optimistic going into every Hawkeye football season for around 35 years now, and this year is no different. Plenty of "experts" have been making dire predictions since last season, but the fact is nobody KNOWS how this team is going to play... until they play. Of course I'll be accused of drinking the Kool-Aid, and I know that's partly true, but I simply choose to be optimistic until proven otherwise. I think we're going to exceed expectations, if for no other reason than because the expectations are so low.

The only possible way that the new QB could be worse would be if he also gives the ball away in addition to never throwing touchdowns.

Actually we have a better chance seeing Weisman at QB than KF allowing that to happen. KF might allow intereceptions, Stanzi 2009 for example, but better have production (TDs and yards) to go with it.

I will be excited for the opener..watching with the hopes of a fired up football team with a chip on it's shoulder. Then when Jordan Lynch breaks a 30 yard run during the first few plays and Northern Illinois scores on it's first possession I will be looking forward to basketball season
