Not unexpected but good news nonetheless.
The Hawks are looking more and more like a preseason top 4 team in the Big.
Who are all the players that have verbally said they are leaving early so far? Anymore anticipated to leave?
Payne has already said he is coming back...which surprised me because...well...I wanted him gone since he's a 6'10" stud with 3pt range and a Hawk killer...since they don't call fouls on him when slams into people on his blocked arms...I mean "shots"...
Well that's solid information...my info came from a local Des Moines radio station when talking about the subject last week...When was this? Last I read was this, which is dated Friday April 12:
Adreian Payne (Michigan State): The junior is reportedly working with Tom Izzo to attain the proper information about his stock. But the athletic, 6-10 forward was impressive in a pair of double-double efforts against Memphis and Duke in the NCAA tournament. He also demonstrated his versatility (38.1 percent from beyond the arc) throughout the season. He has a rare combo of size, athleticism and range.

top three in my opinion

I keep going back n forth on this. Was all-in on Hawks being legit B1G contenders (as in, still in the race on March 1, 2014). Then tempered it a little after Baylor abused them (still in the conversation, still NCAA lock but most likely 4th or 5th finish). Now have come a little back toward the higher expectations, especially as the defections keep coming.
I'm thinking, Iowa was so close this season against all those teams with all those guys who are leaving. Now that so many of them are gone, and Iowa should be a better shooting, physically tougher more experienced team next year, how can that not translate to Iowa winning many of those games?
Yes, you can point to great incoming recruits to replace many of those guys but I will point to them still being freshman and cite Iowa's beat down of #16 Michigan, 2 years ago, with Burke as a freshman pg and a younger Hardaway & GRIII.
I still think OhST and maybe MSU (depending on Harris and Payne decisions; even then, Iowa was mauled into blowing two late leads or they would have swept them, this year) will turn out to be the teams to beat but find myself coming full circle that Hawks will be right there in that 2-3 finish.
Fast forward to November, please! (No one will miss suffering the upcoming ordeal, this fall.)
If nobody else leaves Michigan they are a Final Four contender again.
You take that back, you son of a wait...no, no...you're right on with this. My apologies! You still live in Mtown so you obviously haven't learned anything yet.![]()
