Since there are 32 NIT teams, and 4 brackets, each with the 1 through 4 seed listed, that almost certainly means 1 plays 8, 2 plays 7, 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5. So, K State is the 6 seed in the Iowa's bracket since the Hawks are the 3 seed.

They take the teams outside of the top 4 in each bracket and match schools up geographically if possible.

They only seeded the Top 16 teams in 4 brackets of 4 seeds. The bottom half did not get seeding, they just placed them by geography and matchup considerations. I like that. Its the second tier tourney, juice the rules to make it as interesting as possible.

KState is a good geographic and big conference matchup.
