Anyone else like the potential 1 v 2 match-up with S Carolina? I mean, who wanted to go through UCLA or Uconn to get to the final four? I think we have a tough path no matter what though.
 
This seems to be a "down year" by South Carolina standards because any year when they dont go undefeated and win the SEC is a down year for South Carolina.

But yeah, i am fine with any bracket without UCLA and UConn. We already know that Iowa does not match up well with UCLA. We dont need to see that match up again.
 
Iowa got a #2 seed and will host its first round game in Iowa City against Fairleigh Dickinson on Sat. If Iowa wins that game, they will play either #7 seed Georgia, or the #10 seed from the play-in game. That potential 2nd game will also be in Iowa City on Monday.

I know nothing about FDU other than what the committee seeded them. There seems to be a big gap in the women's game between the mid-majors and P4 programs. So I am going to guess that FDU has almost as much chance to win as Senegal had against Team USA in the FIBA womens world cup.

But even her Iowa teammates at the time had to agree that Gabbie has pretty eyes, and I agree too. Still I guess the Georgia coach probably could have come up with a better way to describe her.
 
Iowa seemed to be able to impose their will on top 40 teams outside of the clear top 2. But also struggled, but won against terrible teams. I think they'll get to Elite 8 mostly on their D and post scorers.
 
S.Carolina would still be a heavy favorite, but yeah, certainly better than the Bruins or Huskies.
The Selection Committee has liked the Hawks all year long, and this draw clearly means they were one of the top two of the #2 seeds -- in other words, they rank the Hawks no lower than #6 in the nation -- which is incredible given the youth of this team.

Perhaps- but I read this: "Yes, a #1 and #2 seed from the same conference can be in the same tournament, but they are generally separated into different regions by the NCAA tournament committee", so we could be #7 seed but we would not be matched up with the #2 (UCLA).

Definitely better than UConn or UCLA, we know how we match up with them. I know nothing about Texas though.

I read that FD lost to Rutgers and another BiG team that Iowa beat, if that means anything.

Well, Rutgers coach was fired at the end of this season. Rutgers did not even make the 15-team Big Ten tourney this year. They seem to have fallen on hard times since C. Vivian Stringer retired like 3 or 4 years ago.
 
I like the stat that since WBB expanded to 64 teams in the Dance, the record of the #2 seed vs the #15 seed is 124-0! FDU's 30 wins makes you sit up and take notice but still.....

If the Hawks can play as well as we did down the stretch of conference play and the start of the BTT we should be able to make a good tourney run. But you just never know.
 
Did we take any time outs to try and stem the momentum? Other than the first 5-6 minutes of the first quarter, that was not pretty
