Wisky's B1G West hopes just took a hit....

Wisconsin's stud LB, Cichy, out for the year with a torn ACL in camp. He was easily their best defensive player.....

That sucks. I hate seeing any athlete going down to injury.

In general I agree with you, but in a sport like football, coaches should be making some effort not to expose players to unnecessary or high levels of risk. So for example if a team has a offense where the QB runs a lot, and the QB ends up getting hurt, my reaction usually is, well, that was predictable.

Now if its one of those fluke injuries that players rarely get, then my reaction usually is, ah, thats too bad.

Just saw that. Dude... There's some crying going on up in Madison today. Sucks to see that... But it's a part of it... Better them than us.

Sucks but it happens. They'll plug another guy in there. Wisky seems to do a good job of that. Plug and play players. In the voice of Kirk Ferentz "That's Football".

We always have our share of key injuries. No compassion here.

This is pretty much where I'm at. Hate to see kids get hurt, but it's the nature of the game that they've all signed up to play. We've had more than our share of injuries over the past several years that have cost us conference titles...

Pretty sure in this day and age coaches minimize risk of injury as much as possible. At some point you have to simulate game conditions as much as possible. Remember the quote by the Nebraska D coordinator that Iowa practices must be blood baths because of how pysical they played.

Knock on wood boys and girls, knock on wood....I hope we stay healthy all year. Too bad for the kid

2016 VandeBerg missed the entire B1G season, Kittle rarely healthy
2015 Ott missed most of the B1G season & Smith was banged up most of the year, Duzey rarely played

All of those guys were major impact players for Iowa. As the man said, keep your fingers crossed

sad to hear that...seriously...these kids work hard all year to play 12 games. Tough loss for Wisky and the B10. Maybe the Iowa kid from South Dakota gets some more playing time at Wisky, eh?

He'll be missed, but he did miss the last half of the season with a pec injury, so they've played without him before. Happy for Wisky, feel bad for Jack.

I would still take Wisconsin to win the West. They have figured out what Iowa hasn't: how to take advantage of a favorable schedule. Wisconsin may very well win the West by default I don't see Nebraska, NW or Iowa doing it.

Your comment implies the Wisc coaches were somehow negligent in this player's very unfortunate injury.
Are you kidding me??
An ACL can go at any time, even while under very minor stress/strain conditions. Coaches at all levels take extreme caution to limit players' risk due to contact. Good grief, 99.9%+ of coaches love their players, they develop life-long relationships with them and would do anything to ensure their safety.
