Why NFL Teams Love Iowa

Yes, character is definitely a valued trait in the NFL these days.
But,as they said, another reason is that Iowa plays a pro-style offense.
That allows scouts to evaluate o-linemen,tight ends, rbs and qbs much better.
Read an article in yesterdays Chi.Tribune about Bears 6th round qb pick, dan lafevour, who never has taken a snap from center in competition while in HS and college. The scouts talked about how tough it is to know about all these spread qbs in college in terms of translating to the pros. Like they said, they throw a ton of short passes, and often they are in a spread because of lacking a strong arm.

This is why Ricky will get a very strong look from the scouts next year...he will be a mature,high-character,highly developed pro-style qb....makes him an easy default pick as he is not likely to be a complete bust transitioning to the NFL.

Amari is undersized? I am sorry, but when did 5'11" and 200 lbs. become undersized at the corner position?

Me thinks this guy has just come to believe all Iowa players are undersized.

Yeah, that jumped out at me too because I recall him being pretty highly rated in HS. A quick check on scout shows GT and Purdue were the only others to offer. Seems strange.

Edds was evaluated rather favorably by some of the websites ... however, he wasn't exactly swimming with offers though. Highly recruited guys tend to have offers from major programs than what Edds had.

I doubt he only had 3 offers or schools of interest. I'm sure several schools recruited him who may or may not have extended an offer at the time of commitment to Iowa. Wasn't he a 4 star player?

Even if he only had 3 offers, I wouldn't call scholly offers from two big ten schools and an ACC school being lightly recruited.

That's not exactly being heavily recruited. Adrian Clayborn received a slightly better grade (5.9 to Edds' 5.7). AC received offers from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, Mizzou, Nebraska, and Texas Tech. THAT'S being heavily recruited. Edds was surpisingly underrecruited.

I guess it just boils down to what you consider 'lightly recruited'.

What would you call Brandon Myers? He is someone I would consider to be lightly recruited with Iowa being his only BCS offer

3 BCS offers isn't that much, either. Especially for a 3/4 star recruit.
